An Introduction from a Lone Panda

in #introducemyself7 years ago (edited)

Hello Fellow Steemers...Or is it Steemiters?

Anyway, I thought I would say a little hi and tell you a little bit about my tiny space on the Steemit community. (Can I just say how excited I am! Whoop!)

So... First things first. I'm sure you're wondering about the name 'The Lone Panda'. Well, I tried to pick something that represented me. Sure, I could have gone with 'The Awesome Ali blog' but in all honesty sometimes I'm a little too goofy to be awesome all the time. Therefore, I decided on 'Lone' because I have always carved my own path in life, and 'Panda' because I think that animal best describes me as a person. A little bit fluffy, a little bit of a loner, loves food, don't really care about procreating to help my species out (at the moment), approachable, goofy, playful and not the most intellectually minded individual that this land has seen. Plus I really love pandas. Ok, all jokes aside, I just picked it because I couldn't think of anything else at the time.

This space will be dedicated to me writing about what pops into my brain at the time. Sometimes it will be observations about life, or dating or society. Other times I might share my journey to becoming a more saner individual, as in mental wellness and mindfulness. In general, this blog will be about life, health, motivation, wellness and anything else that might creep into my chaotic noggin. Plus I've got some great uses for coconut oil that some of you might love to hear about. No? Well, how about what I think will become of love in 100 years time? Again, no? How about the sobering act of taking pictures of yourself naked? Or dick pics? Or discussing panic/anxiety attack?

Ok, well... don't worry, I will find topics to reel you in. So without further ado, let's get started already!

P.S.- Can we swear on here? I'm not saying excessively. 😇 It's just sometimes you need a good swear word thrown in.

Hi and welcome! To answer some of your questions (1) I think typically we're called "Steemians" although I don't much care for that name, I like "Steemers" better! and (2) you can fuckin swear all you want! This is a censorship-free zone, do what you want and the community can judge it with their votes!

Haha! Great to hear on the swearing part. Not so sure of the Steemian part. But if that's the consensus then I will accept it. Doesn't mean I will stop using Steemers though.

I'm kinda giddy with excitement about the Steemit train. toot-toot!

Hi there LonePanda. Welcome to Steemit! Stick around for the long term though and follow some established authors here to quickly learn and grow with the community. If you have any doubts, you can always join Steemit.chat and ask for help.

Feel free to follow me ☺

Thank you! I definitely am in it for the long haul.

🐼 @thelonepanda Haha... no dick-pics please... that a different social network. 😂 We welcome you with open arms! Cheers! @rebele93

Thank you!!

And don't worry I was just going to write a post complaining about the dick-pic phenomenon. There shall be no pictures of them at all. 😁

Coconut oil works well in my hair. It definitely has other uses too. Welcome to Steemit! Was that last list of questions just a test to see if people were actually still reading the post? ;-) Yes, absolutely, you can swear. Liberty is the ability to offend others without them threatening you with violence in return after all. Swear on, Lone Panda, swear on...

There are a ton of other webpages to help you with Steemit. Here are some of the best for beginners:

https://steemd.com/ (This site is used to keep track of your voting power and other stats. You do not want to run out of voting power, and you only get so much per day. I keep my voting power around 80% for example.)

https://steem.makerwannabe.com/ (This site will tell you who follows you, who unfollows you, and who mutes you. It is great for meeting new people too. I regularly check it to see who has followed me to see if I should follow them back.)

https://steemit.chat/ (This site is the official chat webpage for Steemit. There are Discord channels too, but I usually stick to the official site. Come in to network and meet new friends. You can directly message people there too, so it makes it easier to communicate with your closest friends.)

Oh yeah, there are a lot of bots on here. If you see a cookie cutter reply, especially to your intro post, it is almost certainly a bot. Check the account's reputation. If it is low, I would recommend just ignoring them. Everything is public on Steemit, so you can go look at an account's comments and replies. Are they all the same? It's a bot.

Adding photos to your account as a new Steemian may be confusing at first too. The easiest way it to click to "Submit a Story." Once in there, use the built in Steemit tool to upload an image from your computer. Below the posting window, you will see "Insert images by dragging & dropping, pasting from the clipboard, or by selecting them." Click on the blue text. Once the image is uploaded, you can copy and paste the link into your account settings.

Verifying your identity is very important because it will get you more support and people will trust you more. The best way to verify is to link back to your Steemit account by using another public social media account. For example, I posted my Steemit articles from here through my Twitter account. Another person posted their Steemit information on their Facebook account. Some people will even post a video of themselves writing out their account information since that cannot be Photoshopped. The more famous a person is or the more valuable their content is, the more important it is that they verify. If a new account falls within those two categories and fails to verify, it may get blacklisted.

Again, welcome, and I've followed you! If you have any questions about getting started, look me up on the chat site.

WOW!! I can't thank you enough for all that info! Definitely appreciate it!

About the verification... I've added my post from steemit to my twitter account. Do I need to do it more times? And do they let you know when you're verified?

Oh, there's no requirement, but people with valuable content off Steemit that do not verify will be warned by bots (automatic accounts). If they still do not verify, those accounts can be blacklisted (the bot will run around following them declaring them as a fake I believe). haha One post back here is plenty!

Ok great to know! Thank you!

Welcome to Steemit. This is a really good platform. You’re going to love it here. Do checkout the Steemit.chat, you’ll find all the help you need over there.

I liked it! I looked at your profile and noticed that you have made a fresh account so I'd like to offer you my welcome. This deserves an upvote and keep on steeming!
Getting those big upvotes on a new account can be a daunting task, believe me, so maybe you want to try @MinnowPowerUp where you can earn up to 30% more steem power than just directly powering up! It's a subscription based daily upvote bot that draws its power from a delegation pool. I made this post to explain the system in more depth and show how I earn over $1 a day in upvotes.

A new Steemian :-) hello @thelonepanda I hope you enjoy your time here, its a great community ! Nice post, wish you much luck! I will follow your account. Don't hesitate to contact or follow me at any time :-) See you around @tradewonk
