Introducing the Company that I'm working with

Introducing the company

As Steve Jobs once said:

Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do.

Even if there are times our jobs might be stressful and frustrating, we still enjoy our work if we love what we are doing. If someone asks me the things I love in the world I am certain that the list includes my job!
This blog will be different from the rest since I, brokemancode, will be introducing you the company I work for.
First and foremost, I am Alfred, but I go by “Fred” for short. GMC is the name of the company I work for. It produces flour and feeds! Yes, flour and feeds you read it right! One may just simply ignore these two products but they might be primarily part of our day to day living. Let me cite some examples.

Flour can be used for baking and if you are a baker, you know you will need at least a couple of different types of flour. In your pantry for instance: all-purpose flour, cake flour, pastry flour, breadflour and the list goes on. Some of the delicious foods that include four in its list of ingredients are: brownies, cookies, pancakes, and a lot more. Yum!

Feeds or also called as animal feeds is a food for domestic animals such as pig, chicken and many more. (And if you are a farmer, it’s safe to say that you are an expert on the different types of feeds!)

But wait! Do you know where flour and feeds came from before it was manufactured? Well don’t worry; I will explain where, it came from WHEAT KERNEL.

Wheat kernel is particularly rich in the B-vitamins thiamin, niacin and riboflavin
Wheat Kernel has 3 parts namely:

  • Endosperm - this is considered as the largest part since it occupies 83% of the wheat kernel; it is also located at the interior part of the kernel.
  • Bran – as you can see in the picture this is the outer layer, the one covering the wheat kernel (brownish color), it represents about 14.5% of the kernel, it is high in fiber and nutrients.
  • Germ – and lastly germ it is the nutrient-rich embryo that will sprout and grow into a new wheat plant, contains B & E, fat and protein, represents about 2.5% of the kernel
(For more information you can check google )

To give a further insight, I will give you a short background of the company I am working for. As what I have said, its main businesses are flour milling and expanded to feed milling. I can say that the company is a pioneer in this kind of field. Its operations started way back 1960’s something, Wooooh that was a long time ago! I was not yet born that time! It has many branded products, also some of its products are Halal certified (Halal is an Arabic word meaning lawful or permitted. In reference to food, it is the dietary standard, as prescribed in the Koran. By official definition, Halal foods are those that are: 1. Free from any component that Muslims are prohibited from consuming according to Islamic law)

Well that is a good thing to know right? I only know this kind of information when I started working there.

My working plan?

  • In order to achieve our goals in the company, each of us do our duties in the most excellent way.
As for me, I work here as PPE Assistant but I am under agency, my job is primarily composed of monitoring and analyzing data and making reports. And every time there are urgent tasks to finish like reports, I always prioritize it! Delegating which tasks to do first is a skill I developed upon working in the company. But I often monitor the equipments if the settings are aligned to the standards. I also do troubleshooting!

How do i find this job?

  • Challenging but enjoyable, these are two words that I could describe regarding my job. My job made me grow as a person and molded me to who am I now as an engineer. Getting this job was really difficult since finding a job these days is a challenge right? I am no different than the others, just like you, it was also difficult for me. I passed my resume in many companies and waited until someone calls me. Oh the struggle of job application! Months passed but still no sign of hope, until someone called me and told me that I have an interview! It was Thursday when I did my interview. I can still remember the first question and it was “Tell me about yourself” . Another question was “What are your strengths?” and so on (I was really nervous that time). Then finally, the interview ended. After few minutes, they called me back and told me I got the job. I really thank God for that getting this job was truly a blessing!

How was my relationship to my co-workers?

  • Well they are all really nice and good people! Having adventures are what keeps us all bonded together!, @wandergirl is one of my co-workers, she is a good workmate and a good friend,I sometimes ask for her advice about things like grammars and some favors too. Kudos to you my friend!

Here is our picture together with my co-workers. This picture was taken during one of our adventure trips. And also, @wandergirl uploaded this picture in one of her articles.

To sum it all up, I enjoy what I do for a living. I believe in one particular quote that goes like this, “Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life.” I agree that it is very important for us to love what we do because our attitude towards work reflect on the quality of work we are able to obtain. How about you? Got interesting thoughts to share regarding your job? Tell me about it and share your insights below!
