We renovated a farmhouse in central Italy …

in #introduceyourself7 years ago (edited)

We emigrated to Umbria just over 10 years ago and bought a house that we didn’t actually enter before we put the deposit down. Not only did we not go inside the house, we didn’t actually step onto the land. The Estate Agent didn’t have the keys and we had to return to the UK.

Bit dumb. Lot risky. Best thing we ever did.

I’ll admit, had we have seen the interior, we may not have gone ahead with the offer. You know, when you go into your brand-new home for the first time and are welcomed by sights such as this …

then you do think … uh-oh.

However, 10 years on and we are so happy with what we have achieved but absolutely, under no circumstances would want to do it all over again!

Welcome to the family! :]

Thank you :-)

That building is shining! It looks like the bones are still strong. I sense that whoever built it put love into every part of it.

How are the walls made? Do you have more pics?

Yes! Lots of pics to come. It's a stone farmhouse which we estimate to be about 150 years old. It's transformed a bit since this photo was taken. I'll write more ... :-)
