How it works? Well just keep making posts. Including pictures is very good.

Have the first picture before your writing. That way it shows up as a thumbnail on the pages that people look at to decide who to click on.

Creating your own unique content is very good, but however you do it patience is super important. Keep posting and don't give up is all I can really say at this point.

Oh and engage your fellow Steemians by making comments, upvoting, etc...

Use some kind of word processor to write your posts because Steemit can be glitchy and it really sucks if you make a big post and it vanishes when you try to post it! :-)
