Bara: The epilogue #introduceyourself

in #introduceyourself7 years ago

.....the breeze failed to never cease as I kept my head out looking at the beauty of nature. I felt like a superstar cause it seems the trees were happy to see me around. I paused in excitement as I played J Cole's '2014 forest hills drive' - my favourite album till date. It was the perfect moment cause I had a taste of paradise although it was like a trance cause sooner I'd be back to real hell - reality. I sat at the back seat of a nearly dead Volkswagen car with three others. The driver was a very old man who was so slow in speech although he really did make the car go in the speed of a plane. We finally got to a point we could stop after four hours non-stop on the highway. I tried to find a signpost to know my location but I couldn't. All I could depict of the place if you ask me of a word would be 'retarded'.
I came out of the vehicle, I could define freedom at that point cause in there, I was stocked up in a prison. I swung my limbs like a Chinese kid practicing kung fu. As I paid attention to the cracks the swinging produced, I got caught up by the environs - I could tell the essence of existence as I saw youths playing soccer at a school field just beside me; a category of children rolling tyres, another category running around with crafted paper kites. I thought I felt eased with the happiness in the people's pockets as I scrolled and scrolled my eyes up,down, right and left this chapter of my journey until I saw a little boy painted in kwashiokor sitted head's down close to a gutter. I went closer as I tapped him, he looked towards me with his face covered with tears. I asked him his name. He replied after been initially reluctant, 'Emeka' he said. 'Have you had anything to eat? Are you okay? What's the matter?' I asked in a rush. He flapped his big head indicating no, 'I lost five naira from my sales of sachet water today' he answered as he cried further. 'Just five naira?' I asked in amazement and smiles. He was quick to nod like an agama lizard. I brought out fifty naira from my wallet, he stretched with a smile as his tears seemed to have evaporated. 'Thank you', he said with happiness restored. He got up as he wrapped his arms round my waist. A perfect time to hug someone you know nothing really about though their appearance could tell you much about them. I got caught up in the moment as my hands went through the back of his huge skull at the inion region. 'Chukwu agozigi', he said. I heard that clearly but I never got a meaning for that cause before I asked he had zoomed off with his hawking tray in his hands. I stood at that spot in deep thought cause I know his parting words could only mean hope...to be continued

I'm a poet, storyteller, traveller, mc and a medical student. My name is Bara Arthur Osuluku. I reside in one of Nigeria's largest city - portharcourt. I'm so damn happy to be part of this great community. I hope to be inspired greatly by you all and inspire you also with poems, stories and other lovables that'd strike your hearts.
