A girl with sunflowers in her mind
My dear Steemians!
I can’t believe I’m writing again.
I’ve been writing since I was 15 years old, and I started doing it so in a blog, under a pseudonym and without one bit of censorship. That blog was my online diary, it was filled with all the nasty and intense bits and pieces of my adolescence. If I was ever angry, lost or terribly sad, my way of dealing with things was simply to lock myself in a room and write it off. It felt like the words took life on their own and I was just a puppet moving the fingers though the keyboard. Sometimes I discovered unconscious thoughts I didn’t know I had, afterwards, re-reading what I just created.
My catharsis process has definitely changed, but I am in need to create, 2018 is a year in which I have lived so much, changed at the speed of light and experienced a range of craziness and amazing so endearing, that is time I documented it somewhere.
But “who is this chick?” You might be wondering.
Hey y'all,
My name is Camila Perozo and I am a 23 year old (yikes, SO OLD) with a degree in Social Communication, who recently left her country, family and friends trying to learn how it is to live again. Yes, I am from Venezuela, my chaotic native land (we shall get to this whole mess later, don’t you worry). But don’t let this discourage you, right now I’m in BEAUTIFUL Buenos Aires, getting to explore this electric, jaw-dropping culture, meanwhile learning how be my own home and survive the agonizing perils of adulting. It almost sounds like a heroine’s journey, if you ask me.
(My sister Aurelia and I, at Buenos Aires' obelisk!)
If you have read to this point and you’re still interested, let me tell you a few random facts about me, so we can get to know each other a little bit better; to get even cozier:
What lies inside my heart
I belong to the ocean and there is where I am the happiest, most connected and more relaxed. The sunlight, the far cry of a seagull, windy-dancing palm trees, burning sand and cold crystal Caribbean waters are my definition of paradise. Specially one small town called La Sabana, in Vargas, Venezuela; it's my favorite place on Earth.
My favorite hobby is getting to know people deeply, their fears and dreams. If you allow me, we can have hour-long conversations about your favorite color, that one special childhood memory or your thoughts on reincarnation. I adore people, I have many different kinds of friends and I defend and care for them fiercely.
I have memorized the dialogues and songs from almost all the movies of my childhood, and it gets creepy, I swear. There are movies such as Anastasia and Mulan that I don’t even need to watch it, I can blurt it all out loud randomly, anytime. My life long dream is to be able to visit Walt Disney World, and I'm sure that when I'm there I'll be so happy, that I'll Phantom-of-the-Opera-it and stay in the park, roaming forever in the shadows.
The stage is one of my best friends, I act and direct and have the time of my life while doing so. I particularly adore the theater of the absurd, where you get to discuss the deepest and most existencial of matters, whilst on a playground with no rules. My favorite playwright (to the date) is Isaac Chocrón, I have performed one of his works “Tric Trac”, and it is my uttermost desire to present “Alfabeto para Analfabetos” before I die. Also, I'd love to embark myself in musical theater since I'm obsessed with musicals (they have everything! acting, music, choreography and dance, incredible stories) and that is one of the reasons that I came to Argentina, since it's a country with respect and sophisticated taste in theater. I was astonished to find Corrientes avenue in Buenos Aires, where you can find theaters pilled one alongside another, for miles.
My favorite colors are warm, mustardy yellow and pastel, sweet pink, because finally I have embraced and loved that part of me that wants to be vulnerable and happy. My spirit is filled with sunflowers and cartoons and I cannot live without art in any of it’s presentations.
My family is like one of Isabel Allende’s novels, each member competing to see who’s more exotic and out of this world. I have lived a numerous of paranormal and surreal experiences thanks to that. Green lightning, ghosts, spiritual fire, God in butterflies, you name it.
Everyone has virtues and defects, my strongest asset, I believe, is my ability to listen and the one thing that I don’t love about myself is that I am a very harsh and strict judge not only to others, but specially to myself.
So this is me! I hope this hasn’t been too intense or weird, my idea is to engage in Steemit to read new and interesting stories and getting to know the person behind it; as well of sharing my journey in the way.
Hopefully, we’ll see each other in the sun!
Camilú
