My name is Austin, and I'm a travel professional by day, and a musician and dreamer by night.

How I Got Here:

I came across Steemit, because my brother began getting into the cryptocurrency craze over the summer, and convinced his friend Peter to join him. As they explored the reaches of cryptocurrency, they came across this platform. Knowing that I have been a hobbyist music producer for years without seeing much success, they suggested I give this platform a try. I initially logged their suggestion away for later use, since I was busy with work at the time, and distracted by other things. Then in October, I read an article from Wired.com about the website and decided I had nothing to lose by exploring Steemit, so I came home and signed up to Steemit.

I waited two months to make a post here, because I wanted to be able to better showcase my music, and that meant setting up a bandcamp page and a Google Play Music page for my musical endeavors. That process was pretty quick with Bandcamp, but it took a number of weeks to iron out the wrinkles with Google Play.

A Little About My Music

I compose electronic, instrumental songs using FL Studio and my self-taught musical skills. I grew up listening to New Age, Rock, Electronic, Video Game, and Soundtrack music, which have all influenced my subconscious musical ear. I rarely set out to fully emulate any one particular sound, so the genre of my musical output is kind of hard to pin down. Regardless of whatever I set out to make, I always try to create enjoyably harmonious music.

A Little History

I went to school initially to be an animator, and then I switched to Geology, neither of which suited my talents and future goals very well. After spending two years in Germany, I eventually graduated with a degree in German Linguistics, with the hope that I would find work as a translator. It turns out that making a living as a freelance German to English translator in Denver was a near impossibility, so I moved out to L.A. for better work opportunities, and to focus my music making efforts. After moving to L.A., I got a job at an international travel wholesaler as their documentation specialist. This allowed me to focus on making music in my free-time.

My music

I posted my early music on Soundcloud to very little fanfare and achieved little success other than amassing some approving likes from family and friends. After four years of little success, but continual improvement in my music production skills, I decided to throw caution to the wind and post my music to a potentially wider audience on Bandcamp, Google Play, Steemit, and wherever else I decide.

My musical pseudonym, Cosmion, is a word I invented after spending about a week mixing and matching English word roots to create a suitable nom de plume. The word is short, simple, and essentially means, "an act of the universe". So, I have decided to go with it.

My Future Plans:

In addition to getting my account here on Steemit up and running, I plan on continuing to release new music (I'm currently working on a Drum & Bass / Punk rock inspired song), as well as making new and interesting posts here on Steemit. (I have an idea for an article about NFL franchises, as well as some discussions about travelling in the United States, music, and language things.) So, stay tuned.
