Yet another crypto dude...

in #introduceyourself7 years ago (edited)

Hey steemians,

as I made my first steps in this community I also found this category and I did not want to miss the chance to introduce myself to you: I am Marcus, a software engineer from Germany. For some obvious reasons my working-place has to stay a secret, but I managed to smuggle a picture to share with you:

At the beginning of this year, right when ethereum started being more and more recognised in public, I stumbled over an article on "How to mine your own ethereum", which at that time was even profitable at your desktop pc. I immediately got hooked on the whole cryptocurrency / blockchain thing. Until now, I read every article I can find and the more I learn about them, the more I find fantastic new projects, which I not only like to invest (small amounts) in, but also like to be a part of, to get a better understanding of what the project tries to achieve.

One of these projects is steemit and here I am!

I have to admit I just love the idea of it, because from an investors point of view, I like, that the success of the steem token is directly bounded to the success of the community, where as a normal person I believe that people who share content on this platform may try to be more accurate, more thoughtful and may spend more time before posting to improve the content they put in public, which has a direct impact on the overall quality of all content which is published here.

So what can you expect of me?

As you might have noticed I am quite enthusiastic when it comes to cryptocurrencies / blockchains, because I strongly believe in near future this whole thing will have quite an impact on our daily lives. So I'll mostly try to contribute to this community with articles concerning these topics, especially when it comes to helpful guidelines. A little taste of what you may can expect on my blog can be found here, since as enthusiastic as I am about this platform, I immediately started blogging 😎. Please don't hold back with any criticism, improvements or any questions you may have. I am here to learn!

I'm also planning a small desktop application related to cryptocurrencies and thinking about sharing my progress with you here, depending on your interest. So when you are interested in active influencing the outcome of the project and are willing to participate in design decisions and feature ideas, give me a follow! Details will follow by the end of this year.

What else there is to say about me?

Next to my cryptocurrency / blockchain ambitions I love doing sports, like jogging and fitness or playing basketball. Moreover I love watching soccer (Hannover 96!! 👊), and nearly every professional sport event on a high level. Another passion of mine is to travel, meet new people, learn about new places and just to discover the world. Unfortunately I haven't done that as much as I wish I already had, but hopefully in the near future I can spend more time following that passion.

So that's it from me dear steemians. Get ready for take off and lets do everything in our power to make this platform a great success (this is not only the investor in me speaking here! 😏). Lets do this, go steemians!!!

Thank you for welcoming me here! Eventhough I am only here since a few days I already see what you mean with that this community is way different, really get that impression, too. I couldn't agree more with you and I'll definitely follow your advice.

Lol, nice intro pic. Have fun on Steemit, wishing you best of luck!

Thanks a lot, all the best to you as well!

Welcome to steemit, @crusam!

My profile is @flashfiction and i would like to present you some links i found really useful when i first signed up here. They will make you start with the right foot on Steemit!

These links will all open on the SAME TAB (Yeah, i know...), so i recommend opening them with "right click->open in a new tab".

LinkCheckDescription
Growing FastTopYou HAVE to register here, if you want to build an audience FAST. It's a free service for boosting exposure, upvotes and followers. You just have to click on "login". Have your key at hand (That awfully long number you got when you signed up on Steemit). The tutorials are easy to follow.
All about steem coinsTopThere are three coins of use on Steemit, and understanding them is critical for your success. This is a short explaining video, the very best i've found.
MarkdownTopEven if you can use some basic HTML on your posts, the correct way to format them is NOT HTML. You use a marking ruleset called, yeah, "Markdown". Have this as a complete reference.
PostingMediumThe top activities on this site are posting, upvoting and commenting. This is an excellent tutorial about making your posts look great. Don't miss it!
UpvotingMediumYeah, you tought upvoting was just a matter of machine-gunning your clicks and make easy bucks. Nah. It is actually a little more complicated than that. All you need to know is here.
Better interfaceMediumLet's face it: The interface on Steemit is pretty basic. "Busy" is an alternate interface you can use, more polished and easy to navigate. Both of them can be used simultaneously. Again, you just have to login.
Using BotsMediumThere are a lot of things to learn about this platform, and understanding bots is one of the most important. They are little different services you can access for a fee. I found this tutorial extremely useful.
Trevon JamesMediumI know, i know... there are lots and lots of GREAT steemians here for picking one to recommend, but i just love Trevon's style. He explains EVERYTHING you need to know about Steemit (and crypto) in a funny, accesible way. Check him out.
@flashfictionAwesomeWell, duh. My profile! ;) I write short fiction and tutorials on creative writing. I would be honored if you'd follow me.

Anything i cand help you with, i'm at your service!

See you around!
