Waiting for Godot

Although this is an "introduce yourself" post, I am not going to write an autobiography. Instead I will tell you about some of the things I do and some of the things I think about. If someone reads this and feels that they need to know my biographical information, then they should make a request in the comments.

I have spent many years as a student and have studied a diverse array of topics. As many people have said before, the more you learn, the more you realize you don't know. Among the topics I have given somewhat more than a cursory glance are: economics, philosophy, mathematics, linguistics, meteorology, astronomy, pedagogy, psychology, sociology, and computer programming. I have lived in two countries for more than 25 years each, and a third where I plan to spend much of the time I have left, so I will be sharing ideas about those places. I do not, however, claim to be an expert, nor even particularly knowledgeable about these topics. I will simply say that these are some of the topics which interest me, so they are among the topics I will write about the most.

So I encourage you to take a look at what I post. Leave comments, please. I know I am not good at this, so constructive criticism is much needed and greatly appreciated.

Oh, you might be wondering why the title of this post is "Waiting for Godot".
I imagine you are familiar with the play. It is sufficiently famous that most people have at least heard of it and about it, even if they have not read or watched the actual play. Whatever your relationship to the play, you likely have some opinion of it. I find the play to be simple, yet enigmatic. That is what I hope for this blog.
