Who Am I?

My name is Daniel and I'm based in the Greater Los Angeles area. I actually made this Steemit account a long, long time ago but never got around to writing anything until now.

After poring over minutes and minutes of articles here, I can already tell that the vibe is different from Reddit, in a good way. Steemiters (sic?) seem to be more encouraging in their comments and interested in building relationships rather than the anonymity that Reddit provides.

...but I digress

I'm in my 30's, working for a food company handling international accounts. I lived in Japan for four years and loved every minute of it. I wanted to be a translator, but ended up a teacher....and now a salaryman. I don't have any regrets; although I do wonder what would have happened if I didn't chicken out of my Industrial Design major for Japanese.

Living and working abroad opened my eyes to many things about my own country. I am engrossed in politics and trade now mores than ever. I have strong opinions about these things, but I'm an affable guy and will entertain contrary viewpoints so long as we are all civil.

My goal with Steemit is to grow as a writer and learn to get across cogent, convincing points.

I intend to write about Japan, business, politics, photography, dogs, food, fatherhood, travel and crypto.
よろしくお願いします Nice to meet you!

Hi dbru
I recently made an account here and am strolling through the community seeing who there is to meet.
Having yet to post an introduction as I am still waiting to take some specific photos for it I must say you know how to make a good one yourself. I was quickly interested in what things you might write about given your brief yet candid window into your life.
Is this a return to a dusty hobby or a fresh page in a new chapter of yourself?
I myself am revisiting a past interest and currently finding steemit to be potentially just the way to freshen things up.

Hello, Daniel, and Welcome to Steemit.

I hope your recent "Re-View" of Steemit posts makes you realize the promise and the incredible potential of this platform.

As a former teacher (in Japan), occasional editor, part-time writer, and failed blogger, I first came across Steemit as an "investment" in cryptos. Upon closer inspection, I realized that this was – finally – a blogging platform on which I could focus on writing and content creation, leaving the rest up to the software developers.

And that's what I do ... almost every day. Finally.
I write / create content. And succeed.

Hope you can, too.

Below are a few basic points of advice re posting on Steemit.

  1. Longer posts are more lucrative than short posts. If you make a post of 20–30 paragraphs, it's more likely to earn rewards.
  2. Include some photos, images or graphs, to complement the text.
  3. Make sure the text and photos are formatted properly, so that your post looks attractive and appealing.
  4. Be yourself.
  5. Be interesting and informative.
  6. Create quality content. Steemit is intended to be a platform of quality content. (You will see many insignificant posts with meager content and no quality. Most of those of posts [called “shitposts” by Steemit whale Stellabelle] will earn few rewards and soon pass into oblivion.)
  7. Get online and start curating. Read various posts, comment on those posts you find interesting, and upvote those posts. That’s the best way to attract followers.

Hope this helps for now. Good luck, and Full Steem Ahead! 頑張ってください
