Introductions (and why Diaperhaiku?)...

in #introduceyourself8 years ago (edited)

Hello! My name is Rich and have finally started posting to Steemit. I think it's a fascinating concept (as I am sure you all do as well) and look forward to contributing to a growing community.

Why Diaperhaiku?

When my daughter was born, I spent many wee hours of the morning in a very sleep deprived state rocking her in the recliner. I think I'm probably at my most creative when I'm exhausted...and giddy...and goofy. As I sat there mulling the absurdities of some things in life I started to compose haiku. Bad haiku (technically Senryu, but we won't split hairs at 3am). Ultimately I'd end up sharing the haiku on FB to much commiserating with my parent friends.

Given that I was a new(ish) parent, calling it Diaper Haiku just made sense. It was usually about parenting and it usually stank. Here is a sample:

Now that my daughter sleeps through the night my productivity has dropped, but I hope to create/share more.

Here is a pic of us relatively recently:

Catch you soon Steemers! (Steemites? Steemians?) I'll probably be on the photography, poetry or travel tags the most, but who knows what will peak my interest.

Have you ever pushed your body further than you dreamed possible?

By three methods we may learn wisdom: First, by reflection, which is noblest; Second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third by experience, which is the bitterest.
