Opening the book to the world of dragons

in #introduceyourself7 years ago (edited)

Hello steemit folks. Here is a true introductory into my world.

As stated before, I was brought here by a wonderful friend. One who has been hounding me since shortly after she joined. Much love @sykochica!

My name is Crystal. I just recently turned 32 and yes, I am your typical crazy Gemini. I was born in St. Louis, Missouri and in 2006 ventured my way down to Springfield, Missouri. An ex and I had split and I already had a bunch of friends down in that town. It was the start of life in the unknown. For I never thought growing up that I would ever leave my home town. Now I find myself in a whole different state. We moved to Colorado just a year ago for a job promotion. Life is quite the wild ride and we should all remember to “stop and look around once in a while or you might miss it.” - Ferris Buller

Along with moving my life around, I have also done a little bit of traveling and adventuring. With my ex, we did a lot of 4-wheeling trips with his jeep club. This took us most times to Indiana, but we also went to Michigan and Utah. Most of my traveling has been with my long time partner, Drew. In 2010 we took our first long road trip to New Orleans and the Smokey Mountains. In 2011 we took another road trip for a family vacation in Oregon. Driving north into the the Badlands, making a stop in Yellowstone to see Old Faithful, stayed in Oregon a few days on the coast, drove part of scenic highway 1 in California, had lunch in Vegas, and watched the sun set over the Grand Canyon. In 2012 we packed our home into storage and started an adventure that was planted into our minds from our Smokey Mountain visit. Hiking the Appalachian Trail. What an experience it was! The first year we rounded 3 months and almost half the trail tackled. However, we had to break away as my mother passed away. So in her honor, we made sure to head back out the following year to finish it out. Again 3 months in, Drew came down with a bad respiratory issue and we had to break away. There is still 455 miles and 2 states left and one day.....one day we shall return and finish it off.

For now we shall get ourselves back into shape with the other mountain range. How different they are, but both incredibly beautiful. Which will most likely be what the majority of my posts are about. The nature life around Colorado. And if I'm (we're) lucky, I will own another spiffy camera before the end of the year. Allowing me to provide higher quality photos, ones that still won't do the scenery justice. For now tho, you'll have to settle with simple phone pics.

Other style of posts you might find from me will be related to cooking and maybe some medicinal herbal knowledge. My love is a cook, so I find myself trying to find new and creative things to make for him. It can be quite intimidating, but at least I have someone to ask for tips. With the herbal goodness, well, I just enjoy making my own things from other things. Enjoying a bit of the natural life. Making posts about them will help send me into motivation to do lots of research....so thanks for that steemit buddies. Eventually I will find myself with a yard and again have a garden. Nothing like growing your own food.

Beyond the hobbies, we all have “adulting” to do. Maintaining a job to support our home life and our joys. For 14 years now I have been in the optical field. My experience lies within the lab. The actual manufacturing of eyeglasses. I love that my job involves me truly helping people. I help to give them a gift that many people take for granted. Vision. That sweet ability to view the world around us.

Well that's a bit about me. I'm sure as time goes you'll come to learn more. Don't ever hesitate to ask questions! Just as long as you're prepared for honest answers. :) Have a great one!!!!

Happy birthday (ish). I look forward to some herbal medicinal lore coming from your direction. We're a bit into such things here at Temple of Wow as well. These evenings enjoying the Valerian Root tea.

Thanks for the wishes. It was June 1st, so you aren't far off. mmm valerian root tea....that stuff has such a smell and taste. I tend to take capsules myself. I have also discovered that cats respond to it like catnip. hehe

Just told Rivka what you say about cats and she goes, "well they can't have any". We sometimes refer to it as "sock tea". It's actually pretty nice if you make golden milk with it. That's not our recipe. We basically boil turmeric powder or chopped root with some combination of ginger, black pepper, sometime cacao nibs, dandelion root. And we use raw cows milk.
