A Late Introduction is Better Than No Introduction - Hector COMBO
I AM an individualist trying to find answers in this post-modern maze of confusion.
I produce podcasts, write articles and manage a community called The Laredo Free Thinkers.
I was born in Mexico's central state of San Luis Potosi...in a time of hyper-inflation and political instability. The political instability in my native country affected my family in a very traumatic way. Personally, it affected me in such a way that it motivated me to find the underlying truth. "Why was born into such darkness?!"
These dark times eclipsed my innocence as a child. I became a runaway soul seeking love, compassion and understanding. Through hard-earned experiences I discovered that genuine love give us strength to survive any hardship.
As an adult, I am still asking questions and seeking uncomfortable answers. I play the role of journalist, philosopher and adventurer.
A major stepping stone in my journey for the truth led me down a very dark investigationA case of police brutality broke through the local news in Laredo, Texas. The story of Jose Walter Garza, a mentally ill man who was shot more than 80 times. At that time, the local media was not reporting on the full story. The official narrative left out many conflicting details which inspired me to act.
This tragic episode of inhumanity left a blemish in my soul. It also ingrained in me a resolve to challenge authority and seek true justice.
Trouble Has A Funny Way of Finding Me One of the most eye-opening events in my journalistic adventures occurred in Acapulco. I returned to Mexico to attend the first #Anarchapulco conference. As I made my way from the international airport I was greeted by a massive riot.On one side were masked men, women and children bearing machetes representing a teacher's union. On the opposite end, were riot police in full riot gear attempting to blockade the mob's anger. I was caught in the middle of the chaos trying to get the full story.
Corruption, Lies, Threats, and Journalism in Mexico
My solitary adventures in Mexico initiated me into a darker aspect of corruption which almost broke me.
These spontaneous adventures left me with me more questions. "What can I do to breakthrough this darkness?"
"Where do I go from here?"Through meditation I learned that this world is a reflection of our psyche. The darkness WITHOUT is a testament to our self-deception WITHIN our self. To change the world we must change our SELF first. Compassion is a muscle that needs to be flexed. We exist for the sake of ourselves and for the sake of others. The labels that separate us from the Other are at best arbitrary and at worst just excuses for personal aggrandizement. We are not defined by our beliefs but rather our actions.
