I'm Adrienne of FarmsteadSmith! 
My husband is @smitty. We're a younger couple who got their hands on 20 acres situated in the Crooked River Natuonal Grasslands. We just got the property in Dec. 2016 and are slowly trying to build up our Farmstead!
Currently, it's the two of us, one dog, two rabbits, 21 chickens, three goslings and four (hopefully soon to be eight) ducklings. In my terminology, the goslings and ducklings will be henceforth replaced with "Gucklings". We are planning to still add quail and maybe turkey this year, bees are also on the soon to be added list!
The purpose of this account will be to share with you our adventures with farmsteading. I promise we will even share with you mistakes we've made! Let me tell you, there's quite the list already.
Anyway, my husband and I have had a very adventurous first 5 years of our marriage. He was in the military and because of the military we have lived in South Korea and Germany. We just returned from Germany back to Oregon in 2015 and are now a veteran family.
Now that we're back in the states and own a nice piece of land our goal is to try and head toward the self sustaining model of life and do what we can to provide for ourselves. In the future we hope to add ruminants to the property for sure, but that might be a little ways off while we build up the infrastructure of the property.
So hold onto your hats cause this is bound to be a bumpy ride!
I am open to any questions you may have! Please feel free to ask and I'll answer as best I can.
I live off grid, and solo, on 17 acres in western NC in the Blue Ridge. Got mine in 2014 or so. Looking forward to swapping some tales. Welcome to steemit! Only a homesteader would say that LOL Actually, I also own a two story office building on the main street of my town. I work here pretty much 24 hours a day, with trips home and naps at either place, its only 4 miles from my land.

Scratching my head how you managed to post from the old account about the error and the new account? lol - and no, I won't use apple product, so I couldn't have told you how that worked in the slightest hehe. I'm an anti-apple anti-fanboi and have been since the 80s. At least I am consistent. I'll come follow your new tag now :)
You can still sign in with your posting key thing. The first one in your wallet. But without the master super special key that they TELL YOU NOT TO DAMN WELL LOSE... you can't transfer monies or anything. As is my understanding anyway... Search for some lost password posts. Golly... can't sign in to see the master pass thing without the super special pass. Thank you for hopping over!

I will be heading to 2 events this week at the local ARC club / HAM radio stuff, this may interest you or find one in your area.
The field day is coming up in a few days and this week is the BBQ -- so many offgrid radios which I guess are kinda grid if you think about it.

Thanks for letting me know. I have friends very into HAM, I was always just an internet guy myself. I would probably dig packet radio, if that is still a "thing" but in general, I can't afford another expensive hobby :) I already have pets, livestock, farming, offgrid gear, guns, cars, motorcycles, drag racing, skydiving and computer tech fetishes as it is to blow too much money on!

I did... until coyotes also haz been hadz...
Coyotes took out my entire flock in one day while I was away at work in another city all day.
I also had goats, two horses and a mule, but I've since sold them as well. Well not the mule. Sadly she escaped a pasture fence and was killed overnight by a truck that hit her in the dark. She was in someone else's pasture and it wasn't my fence. I sold the goats after Oliva had two still born twins I had to bury on christmas eve of 2015. Disheartend by that, I sold them to someone better equipped for goats than me, and she has had two happy successful birthings since, making 4 more babies that are doing great on their new farm. I have had great luck with gardens and miserable luck with livestock.
These were my goats and chickens...
Aw shoot, that is some sad luck and stories but you have learned so much and it is nice to see that, and that your goat has had some good luck since too!!!!
