My life on the paradise island Koh Samui
Hello, Steemit friends!
I'm a newcomer and my name is Julia. I'm 12 year old. I' m the only child in the family. I'm like Moana, but with blonde hair, live with my parents on a tropical island called Koh Samui.
We decided to move from Russia, Moscow into Samui 3 years ago.
I adore my paradise island for amazing beaches, clear sea and delicious fruit.
Koh Samui is Thailand's second largest island after Phuket and the gateway to neighboring islands- Koh Phangan and Koh Tao.
The wind in your hair, fine sand between your toes, palm trees swaying around you and the ocean lapping just a few feet away. Aaaah, the island life.
My island Samui was first inhabited around 15 centuries ago by fishermen from the Malay Peninsula and Southern China. The name Samui is thought to either be the name of one of the native trees, Mui or perhaps was derived from the Malaysian word " saboey " that means "save haven".
On Koh Samui there are about 13 major beaches that you can choose from and all of them are different.
Ban Tai Beach is my favourite one. It looks like "taste of Paradise" in Bounty advertisement. And I feel there as I'm on the inhabited island. My parents and I prefer to visit different beaches from time to time. And the choice depends on my family 's mood and the season. For example, in winter we like going to Lamai beach as only there you can see and swim in the big waves.
My hobby is gymnastics, lady dance and silks acrobatics. I didn't expect but I fell in love with aerial silks, they are so magic. You can fly like a butterfly in the air without wings. So I have 3 lessons a week and want more. At first it was too difficult to do any silk tricks and I could not do the splits. But I trained myself everyday and everywhere: at home, in the front garden and even on the beach. After 2 training months I took part in the competitions. And I won the first place in gymnastics and got the certificate of achievement for silks acrobatics. I was happy !!!
Except swimming and sunbathing I like reading and studying. I study at 2 schools: the British School on Samui which is called "Panyadee" and Russian school online. The curriculum in these 2 schools are extremely different that's why I have to work hard. Studying takes a lot of time. My mum is a teacher of English and she always helps me with my homework. You can ask me which school is better? Frankly speaking, the best one is the British School on Samui.
At "Panyadee" school I like kind teachers and long breaks between the lessons. I even have time to play basketball outside with my friends. At lunch time we drink hot chocolate and eat different kinds of fruits: watermelon, mango, pineapple. During PE lesson we play chair ball or swim in the swimming pool. The PE teacher teaches us how to save people in the water. Then I practice all the exercises with my mum and dad in the sea. It looks funny!!! In Thailand there is a tradition-you should take off shoes before entering any building. So I was surprised that even at school you should enter the classroom without your shoes, it is allowed to put on only socks.
