Well, there might be a number of reasons why people are giving up voluntarily parts of their privacy. One of them is getting some features in exchange.
Are they worth it? Maybe. Sometimes.
One could want to avoid traffic jam, make online shopping quickly and comfortably, get some special offers / discounts, find their phone when lost, share photos with friends easily, reconnect with buddies from college, etc, etc.
Of course there are consequences and risks. Most important is to be aware of them.
