Hailee Valley - A Place Called Home

#Never too Old to Dream#

I’m Sandra and this is Hailee Valley, a place of repose. It should be. It better be. It's where Hailee Vale tinkers about with a lot of different things. If she knew the whats and the whens, the hows and the whys and even the odd wherefore she could maybe give a better introduction, but she doesn't really have the answers. Maybe that Vale chick is just an old babe living in a weird dream that keeps shifting. You know those dreams with the jumps in time and place? That's pretty much my life.

But it's home and I like it. It's not too far from a place called 42 Mile Creek in Beautiful British Columbia.

Hopefully, in time I can share with you my journey in growing things: Food and flowers and hope.

Let's get started...

Currently, there are lilacs blooming outside and a lovely rain coming down. We’ve had some cool weather that has knocked back the mosquitoes. That’s good for us, but the poor swallows look a little forlorn this morning with their meager insect breakfast after the bounty of last week's supply. I call them Swoopers since that’s what they do when in active pursuit of their meals, but they’re not doing too much swooping this morning.

Today, I wanted to post something for Steemit because it’s been a year since I joined and nope-nada, zip-zero and effess. I hadn’t posted a single thing because it all looked so hopelessly complicated that I fell back into the back of my chair and then I think I started to become this flat two-dimensional slippedy-slidey thing, a kind of paper doll, and I don’t know. I think I must have wound up under the table or something, maybe part of the flooring, or in a box like Shrodinger’s cat.

Anyways, it’s not 2018 anymore and the good thing is, like I said: The rain. Here, at least, we have rain for today. So thank you very much.

Last year with all the wildfires and so much Symbicort and wheezing and apocalyptic skies, there was only faint hope for the future. Isn’t it something though, how G-d can show His grace, even in dark times.

I’ve been thinking two thoughts at once, if that is possible, but Shrodinger’s cat is; so this must be too. The first thought is on patience and waiting and the second is on artificial phoney-baloney stuff in the media designed to get you to spend your money, your time, whatever you’ve got and make you go, "Whoah, Man, I was that Sucker born last minute" and then maybe you wind up doing the slippidey-slidey thing like me and find yourself a two-dimensional piece of flimsy cardboard lying underneath your desk, or, if you're working on your phone and happen to be in something like a Tim Horton's, maybe you slide under one of their cold hard tables and face the reality of how many people still insist on sticking gum underneath.

The world has changed. We've got Casual Fridays, Big Box Stores, Meatless Burgers and Alexa, but gum under the table remains.

So where was I? Oh yes, two thoughts at once.

Today, I was going to share with you a recurring experience I had back in the 1970's, but the two thought deal just isn't working out too well; so I'll save my troubles with The Advertising Guy and The Bus Thing until next time.

For now...

I would like to share some words from a poet who was born in 1875 and lived a brief but meaningful life to the age of 51 so that now, he reaches across time, to touch the hearts of many with an unwavering truth.

(Since I've noticed a discrepancy in the phrasing of words in the following quote, (that part's wavering) via Internet sources, I'm choosing the version I think is most likely correct.)

In Letters to a Young Poet, Rainer Maria Rilke writes:

I would like to beg you, Dear Friend, as well as you can, to have patience with everything unresolved in your heart. Try to love the questions themselves, as if they were locked rooms or books written in a very foreign language. Don't search for the answers, which could not be given to you now, because you would not be able to live them. And the point is to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps then, someday far in the future, you will gradually, without even noticing it, live your way into the answer.

Yes. Let's do this. Let's try.
