Hello Steemit and Happy New Year!
HELLO EVERYBODY
I just learned about Steemit a few weeks ago, and seeing how welcoming and positive the community is I thought I'd join to start the new year.
My name is Allen Hrubesch and I'm currently stuck in my house due to the cold weather here in Eau Claire Wisconsin. I usually work on art in my free time, so it's not a big deal. I live in a family of five with a younger brother and sister. My sister's a graphic designer and my brother's a programmer. My brother and I actually went to the same college and program, both graduating with degrees in Game Design. I took the art side and he took the programming side. The plan is to one day make our own game with him coding it and me doing the art for it.
In the game design art program there's a 2D or 3D track you decide to follow. I followed the 3D track where you learn how to model 3D objects and environments. There were a lot of cool projects that I worked on in the program. A favorite of mine involved modeling a set from one of the movies in the IMDB top 100 list. I chose Palpatine's throne room from Return of the Jedi.
The project involved modeling, texturing, lighting and animating a flythough of the set. These are renders of the finished product. Afterwords I got a newfound respect for how hard it is to model for games and movies. Seeing the finished product is definitely worth it though. I'll upload the animated version to Dtube soon as well as go into more detail about it in the next post.
Steemit seems like it has a bright future ahead. I'm excited to be along for the ride, and am looking forward to what's in store for 2018.
I'll be posting more projects and artwork in the coming days.

Welcome! I joined about a week ago and am really enjoying the experience. Living in Minneapolis, I can relate to the cold weather you mentioned :) Sometimes I gear-up and embrace it (hike, bike, ski) and other times I like to be cozy at home with a warm drink. Thanks for sharing your art, I'll look forward to more. Happy New Year! If you want to say hello, here's my intro https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@mininthecity/introduceyourself
