I Am Andy
Who am I?
My name is Andy, and I'm stoked to be one of the newest members to this community! Admittedly I am still browsing and learning my way around it, but a month ago while having too many beers at a random Pentagon City bar with a former college student (Dan, still don't know your username on here), he introduced me to it and as such, here we are!
Details?
I make stories. Usually through photography. I'm fascinated by the concept of the vague narrative. Here's an example of what I do:
I do this type of stuff for fun. Sometimes galleries like them enough to let them hang on their walls for awhile. Sometimes companies ask if I can make something for them. For example:
Hobbies?
I'm fortunate enough to live in a bike-friendly city, so while it may be a form of transportation, there's a certain joy that comes from having complete flexibility in transit around town. Because most of my normal life is spent sitting in front of a computer while editing, I've also started learning more about functional construction. Hopefully will soon be stepping over into the building phase, but right now thoroughly enjoying learning about architecture and creating interior designs of highly efficient living spaces.
Lastly, I go stir-crazy if I don't step outside my comfort zones and go exploring the world around me. It's not uncommon to find out I'm on a road trip across half of the US or Canada. Lots of stories to share from previous experiences, photos to be seen, and many more memories still yet to make.

Hey Andy!
Do you remember the last name of Dan? There actually is a really famous Dan around on here ;)
Love that picture - just as I think you will love the #photography section here!
Btw., did you know you can use DTUbe to upload videos here? It's kinda like youtube but based on STEEM as well!
Greets from Austria!
Hey there, sorry for the delay! I'm not sure if the Dan I know is the famous one, but I'll ask him what his username is next time I see him! DTUbe sounds like a wonderful idea! I'll get involved there.
Welcome to Steem Community @iamandy! As a gentle reminder, please keep your master password safe. The best practise is to use your private posting key to login to Steemit when posting; and the private active key for wallet related transactions.
In the New Steemians project, we help new members of steem by education and resteeeming their articles. Get your articles resteemed too for maximum exposure. You can learn more about it here: https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@gaman/new-steemians-project-launch
Welcome to the Steemit community.
Did you take any college courses for your photoshop editing skills? I have been meaning to learn how to do more with photoshop than the basic touch ups
There is a chat here on the site that you may find useful at some point or you may just want to talk with other users: https://steemit.chat/home
There's a pretty helpful site out there that another user alerted me to and thats: https://steemd.com. You can use the following link
https://steemd.com/@iamandy to look up your SP, reputation, voting power and much more. It also let's you know what kind of activity is related to your account.
Hey there, I did indeed go to school for photography. After a BA in psychology, I jumped over to photography for an MFA. After that, I spent 4 years as an Assistant Professor of Art teaching photography and video, before pursuing commercial work full-time while still teaching workshops when possible. Best advice I could give on learning new Photoshop processes is to give yourself a concept that you have no idea how you'd be able to complete (for example: put yourself on a self-propelled rocket hovering over trees, on course to the levitating landing pad). Crazy and daunting, right? There's no rush. There's a vast amount of Youtube resources out there that can help you in each step of the process. I know because I still reference Youtube tutorials, too (in addition to previously making about 2 dozen for course content over the years).
Thanks for the links, I'll definitely check them out. Excited to be involved!
Hello!
Hello and welcome to steemit.
I joined in July but only started posting last month.
One thing I have found is that it is difficult to get followers and therefore have your posts seen and upvoted. If I may reccommend something to you it's steemfollower. basically it's just a much smaller subcommunity where you can find followers and we all upvote within that community.
It doesn't cost anything and participating on steemfollower has no impact on your profile here except in the normal manner of upvoting.
Feel free to check it out via my referral.

Good luck in your steem voyage!
Welcome! Nice to have you!
