I am Spartagus

I love to learn. I study many areas of interest and I plan on sharing my knowledge and travels along the way.

My current focus of study is on investments/speculation/money/economics. I never cared about money too much until recently. I just always thought I would work, save, travel, and then work again until I was old and grey (I never had any family plans). But that way of thinking was instilled in me by my upbringing. I was taught work hard, go to college, get a job, and save money. But that's the mindset of the poor, i.e. the masses. That's the way the system wants you to think so they can have control over you. If you are a worker you are much easier to manage. A worker has to work. He doesn't have time to think about the woes of the world. He has bills to pay and a family to provide for. But since then I have changed my way of thinking and that has lead me to the study of making money outside of being an employee.

With that being said I am going to document my journey to self reliance. My current angle of attack is not one of most traditional investors. I'm not a value investor; buy and hold, long term gains. I don't want to work for the next 30-40 years slowly building my wealth so I can have a comfortable retirement. I'm not saying this is a bad way to go about it for most people, it's just not for me. I'm an adventurer at heart. And with that adventurous spirit comes an acceptance of the high risk, high reward lifestyle. So I will be applying this spirit to my current area of focus, making money. I would say I'm more of a speculator than an investor. I'm looking for big payoffs. That doesn't mean that I want to take unnecessary risk. I'm not jumping in blindly. I spend many hours/days/weeks researching an area of interest before deciding to invest.

Obviously, I'm into cryptocurrencies but I think that area of discussion will be thoroughly covered on a network such as this. So, I will be talking about other ways of investing to profit off the upcoming economic downturn. I'm not wealthy, yet, so I will be sharing a common mans approach. You can get a lot of good advice from wealthy people who know what they are talking about but you have to find a way to make it accessible to the layman.

Example: Commodities just entered a bull market but buying and selling commodities is very complicated and usually requires and certain amount of wealth and expertise. So, how can Joe Shmo profit from this market? This is what I spend my time figuring out and I will share my approach with you.

I will also post random things that have nothing to with this but will generally be in the area of travel and knowledge. As I said I have many areas of interest and when I learn something I will tell you about it.
