Hello! Welcome to my World!

in #introduceyourself7 years ago (edited)

I’ve signed up for Steemit just last week and still get puzzled how it works or how it will work. I’ve been very busy with my day-job so I came back today and read. Although I have uploaded two posts already, I realized I haven’t formally introduced myself to you guys yet so here it is, finally.

My name is Ivonne I. Arguillas and I am currently residing at San Francisco, Agusan del Sur. My birthday is on November 20, 1994 and I’ll be 24 years old this year, oh how time flies so fast and it’s making me feel more adult in my “adulting” stage lol. I studied here in my hometown during my elementary and secondary years and went on a faraway land to pursue my college diploma. And guess what, I did all my enrollment process to searching for my boarding house ALL. BY. MYSELF. Well, not literally because I also have with me my high school classmates. The thing is, my parents did not accompany me. I originally settled myself at University of Southeastern Philippines in Davao City and I should be taking up BS in Civil Engineering there. I already took the entrance exam, took the interview and also found a boarding house. However, here comes the Bridging Program as they call it, wherein students who failed in the English subject will undergo 10 days training/coaching I forgot what it was. It’s like a pre-classes prior to the official start of the school year. According to some, it’s a common phenomenon that students there will undergo such but somehow it’s a good start as a college newbie to meet new people and eventually make friends with. And most importantly you will be able to acclimatize yourself on this new environment. I didn’t want that 10-day program because it’s costly so I opted to go to Iligan City and get enrolled at Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology to take up BS in Metallurgical Engineering.

I graduated last June 2016 and blessedly became a Metallurgical Engineer by profession but I am practicing Civil Engineering stuff as I am working at an irrigation agency right now. It’s very different to what I studied for roughly 6 years haha but that’s how life turn out sometimes :D Btw, I’m turning 1 year here by next month and it has been fine so far. Cheers to me!

I enjoy playing volleyball so much that I get ecstatic every time the office will hold a sports event. Other than that, I also enjoy designing my journal to get myself organized on a daily basis. I love stationeries, notebooks – school supplies in general! I easily get attracted to buying those even though I don’t really need it. It’s the kind of “wants” that I “need” in my life, seriously. I also love make-up but I don’t own much. I also want to invest in skin care above all. Self-love is vital for me since I am not getting any younger charot emosyonal haha. I have a YouTube channel (link here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCvNgZKp-jjGP0FWowhcX4LA) and I am trying to make it as a virtual outlet of my interests on vlogging haha it’s not your very extravagant vlog but I just really enjoy capturing videos. I have also posted make-up tutorials and product reviews. It really makes me happy it indeed lessens my stress at work.

Anyway, I first read about this community from @renalexis through her blog post in her website and started gaining interest about it. The thing which caught my attention is the free and interactive community that Steemit have. I’m pretty sure I will enjoy sharing my travels here along with my other interest like make-up, clothing, food and etc. I am not a blogger-type writer so bear with me haha but I enjoy writing. I would also like to mention my friend @ivanusaur since he was the one I first talked to about this community upon reading it haha. Thanks for the info by the way!

This is just a short intro and I’m looking forward to make friends with you! 

Hello, @ivoneee, and Welcome to Steemit.

From reading your post, and from reading about your fascination with stationery items, as well as design and organization, I believe you might be a writer in secret!! Which means that you might find Steemit to be a great platform.

Do not worry if you are not a "blogger." Even tho I consider myself a writer of sorts, I was never able to continue blogging to any degree ... until Steemit. Now, all I do is post on Steemit. (I'm posting several series, and have more and more ideas about future series. I hope you can be as productive!!)

Below are a few basic points of advice re posting on Steemit.

  1. Longer posts are more lucrative than short posts. If you make a post of 20–30 paragraphs, it's more likely to earn rewards.
  2. Include some photos, images or graphs, to complement the text.
  3. Make sure the text and photos are formatted properly, so that your post looks attractive and appealing.
  4. Be yourself.
  5. Be interesting and informative.
  6. Create quality content. Steemit is intended to be a platform of quality content. (You will see many insignificant posts with meager content and no quality. Most of those of posts [called “shitposts” by Steemit whale Stellabelle] will earn few rewards and soon pass into oblivion.)
  7. Get online and start curating. Read various posts, comment on those posts you find interesting, and upvote those posts. That’s the best way to attract followers.

Hope this helps for now. Good luck, and Full Steem Ahead!

Thank you for the insights, @majes.tytyty! And for the info! Will keep those in mind ;)

Great. One more point. Submitting photos in the various photo contests is a great way to earn a bit of Steem and to attract followers. Here are links to 2 contests.

Hi and welcome to Steemit. Love your introduction post. If you have any questions or need any help, follow me

Thanks, rhiyanclark! Will do it soon! hehe

First I would like to say welcome. Secondly, you did a very good job on your introduce yourself post. This post here is very much an example of what we need even more of here. I'm fairly new here myself. But I do enjoy welcoming people to the community myself. I think as long as you try to do your best to create the best content that you can and you go out in the community and try to engage in sincere authentic conversations and try to build relationships you will do very well here. However one thing that I will mention, it seems to be very frowned on to ask for up votes or follows. Also related to conversations and content, please try to actually read or watch the content before just of voting and then when you do find good content try to engage and uplift that person in a truly meaningful way. I personally try to respond to every single upvote reply and comment that I get. Sometimes I spend more time doing that then being able to try to create content. In any case, once again, Welcome to our lovely community. All of my love to you and all of yours and they are Creator bless you and yours.
