introduceyourself: jbreugelmans - VR Interaction Designer & SketchUp tutor + freelancer
Hi Everyone! I am very excited to be joining the Steemit community.
My name is Jeffrey Breugelmans, and I am a Dutch native (which explains the name) living in Los Angeles. I moved to the US in 2010 to pursue a doctorate at Northeastern University in Boston, where I studied Human Factors Engineering and focused my research on the computer accessibility issues faced by those who experience physical disability. Empathy is probably my most defining quality, so although I am an engineer I never fail to keep the most vital component of any technology in mind: the person using it! You can verify me and learn more about my research here.
I am currently working as Chief Interaction Designer at a VR startup called Second Studio and have my own side business as a SketchUp tutor and freelancer. You can also verify me and learn a bit more about my work by checking out www.sketchupla.com. I was a snowboard instructor in my teens and I really enjoyed my teaching responsibilities at University, so this has turned out to be a great opportunity for me to get to know people in LA and stay in touch with my own internal Sensei.
I plan to use Steemit as a way to share my thoughts about developments in VR, Healthcare Technology, 3D modeling, Rendering techniques, SketchUp and the many other things in life that fascinate me. I am not sure how much I should share in my first post, so I will not go on for too long. Please take a moment to check out the links I embedded if you want to learn more about my work and experience.
I hope you enjoyed my introduction, and if you have any questions or comments, please let me know! I always aim to respond asap.
Thank you,
Jeff

Welcome Jeffrey!
I love your VR headset! is it a HTC Vive, right?
Can't wait to see what you do
Upvoted and followed!
Thanks! Yes, that's a Vive. I have the new Windows + Acer MR Dev Kit too, but haven't actually had a chance to test it out yet. I see you are in computer engineering and data science, do you have any experience with VR yet? Being Dutch, I'm a fanatic football player too, although it's been hard to be proud of our accomplishments lately :)
Not yet, but I love VR, I'm a frustrated game developed haha
Please don't talk about football, we're so bad right now! :D
Thanks for your answer, you're so kind.
Sorry to see about the 0-0 draw today! Do you think there is a chance Argentina might not qualify for the 2018 WC? The Netherlands are in a seriously depressing third place in our qualifying group, so chances are we will miss two big tournaments in a row, already having missed the Euros last year. As a recent WC finalist and semi-finalist (no hard feelings :P), that is just too embarrassing for words..
I hope that will be qualify, but it is difficult and next tuesday is the last match, so we need to win no matter what. If we win the next match we will qualify to the WC independently of the others results. We have the best players in the world but not the best team... so cross fingers and I will love to play the final cup against The Netherlands! :D
