Warning: Silent but deadly

A 17-year old girl trying to explore what lies beyond the limits, breaking free from all the invisible chains that's been jailing her for she doesn't know since when, and pushing herself to conquer every hardship just to prove those judgmental people that she is worth something.

Born and raised in the rural province of Agusan del Sur, municipality of Prosperidad, barangay Patin-ay, Jacel Mae Cortado has been taught, ever since her existence, to be a person who's intelligent and is always on the top, to be a person who's so ideal, to be a person who's smart but is still humble, to be a person who's passionate and hardworking, to be a person who will bring honor to their family name, and to be an epitome of perfection. So to be able to reach what has been expected from her, she always strives harder and does her best in school, aiming to be on top again. Always feeling the pressure, she sees every competition she's in as a challenge, thinking that it's a way to hone her skills and abilities. Indeed, she had been molded by her experiences in each competition she have joined. This mindset of hers is what motivates her and fuels her to continue living not just the life expected from her yet a life she wants. Competing also gives her advantages, like having an additional point to her grades, being exempted on some exams and quizzes, and being known in the whole school thus making other students respect her and trust her in those things, building her credibility up. But above all these, too much expectations and pressure awaits her. The need to have a correct answer during exams and quizzes because her classmates are depending on her. The need to have an assignment because her classmates don't have one. The need to be a responsible leader because her group mates depends on her expertise, even though some subjects are not her forte. The need to be a disciplined student just because she's a part of the student council. All these things keep her busy very often. All these things are what she is living each school day. Overwhelming but tiring. Enjoyable but sometimes a burden.

The only thing that balances her lifestyle and entertains her is her friends. She treasures them so much because out of all her "friends" they are the only ones who's true to her. They are Princess, Jeddy Kae, Daily Rose, Shara, Crystal, Nestlylhyn, Leah, and Pearl Keith (not on the picture). They are her precious jewels. Every escapade of them is very memorable to her. Every fights makes her sad. Every jokes and laughter lights up the atmosphere. And every second, minute, hour, day, month, year that she spends together with them, is forever etched in her memory.

Through the years, she have garnered numerous achievements and recognition from school level up to national level, in the fields of journalism, mathematics, science, and even drum and lyre corps.

Okay, enough about my personal information hahaha. Anyway, I have joined Steemit because of the encouragements I have received from @creyestxsa94 , @jillann08 , @acelfaith , and @melvz. They have said that Steemit is just like facebook but the difference is that you can earn just by posting anything under the sun. So I was encouraged to sign up and be a steemian. I find it very entertaining and fun. But because I am still a minnow, I am still on the process of adjusting to the new environment I have here. And I am hoping that I will enjoy the rest of my Steemit days. :)

Annyeonghaseyo, people!

Please also take a moment to read this post regarding bad behavior on Steemit.

Welcome @jcortads! It's a good thing to be ambitious and have motivation, but as you already know you don't need to use them to fulfill someone else's expectations. Brake the chains. Do what you love. Be yourself.
I like your way of thinking, so I will follow your posts with interest.
