Introduce-yourself... Yo steemsters!

in #introduceyourself7 years ago

Where to begin when the topic is ourselves?

Right here, I guess. Some key words... I'm a professional dancer/performing artist, an American expat living in Sweden, a mom to a little 15-month-old bean, a lover of travel, a constant crafter, a childbirth and breastfeeding enthusiast.

I'm a reluctant participant in social media, but lack the conviction to give up my daily dabblings. The platforms I engage with regularly have gotten away from me, feel impersonal, and I often don't remember why I've signed on and swiped the time away in the first place.

Steem came to me via my mom, who is convinced the block-chain is where we'll all be hanging out in the not too distant future... secure, no middle man, decentralized information. Usually I fight her on her wild ideas (picking my battles has never been a strong suit), but maybe she's onto something? I love the platform, I love the wider, more inviting windows into people's worlds... After snacking for so long on glossy bites from Instagram or Twitter, etc, it feels like an invitation to share something authentic and substantial.

I'm at a place in my life that feels fertile yet tenuous. I am a member of a large international dance company housed in an even larger opera house in Göteborg, the second largest city in Sweden, located on the west coast. I've been married to my craft and the stage, a complete devotee since I was young... then desperate to have a baby once my late twenties rolled around. Now, with my little one here, a passion for parenting that I never expected has fundamentally shifted this most primary and central role of being a dancer and performer in my world. I've enjoyed some of the best maternity leave time anywhere in the world #thankyousweden, and now the chapter is ending and I re-meet myself on the other side, as I go back to work in September.

I'm excited to share here, and to create a sense of community on this platform, as well as to hear and enjoy your stories.

Have you ever done Irish dance? I miss it so much. Father of two here, passionate home baker :)
I like people who mark their existence through making. Hope you'll share a lot of it. I shall follow. Check out my profile, of you like it, feel free to follow too.

Hello @breadcentric, thank you for the warm welcome. I'm stunned at this community already! I've never done Irish step dancing unfortunately! But I am a lover of music and rhythm and certainly it falls into that category... I took a much stranger route into the world of contemporary dance. Hoping to share more about it in the near future, and I'm following you and your bread journey!

Every dance is strange, it's just that we got used to some types :)
Soft Irish dances are awesome too.
Anyway, enough of it, hopefully next time I mention Ireland will be in Irish soda bread ;)
