A Proper Introduction...Hello Again!
I had rushed my first introduction and after getting to know Steemit a little better and what a great community it really is, I felt Steemit deserved a better introduction than I had given initially.
So here goes...
I am Jerry Guthrie, Age of 50 and a Musician of almost as many years. Both my parents having a love for music that went beyond genre, and having 5 older siblings spanning up to 20 years my elder, I was exposed to a very wide spectrum of musical diversity that included many genres from the 1940’s up to my own time period. Musical diversity in the household was not only encouraged but almost a requirement and is much of what developed my musical philosophy that music is life, no matter the genre, it is all an expression of human emotion whether it be love or anger, joy or sorrow, we all have these emotions, and music is it’s reflection.
Coming from a musical bloodline that includes relatives as close as my Uncles and Granddad who played Guitar and Fiddle, to more distant relatives which include the famous Guthrie's ( Jack, Woody and Arlo) and named after after one of them (Jerry "Jack" Guthrie, Oklahoma Hills 1945) it's almost as if I was born to play. I first fell in love with the guitar at age 5 while watching Roy Clark play Ghost Riders in the Sky on an episode of Hee Haw. Two years later my youngest older brother bought himself a guitar and started taking lessons. After school, while my brother was at work I would pick up his guitar(unbeknownst to him) and look at the lessons his teacher had sent home with him. After learning my first song (Blowing in the Wind by Bob Dylan) I was so excited I had to show my brother what I had learned. The very same year I got my first guitar.

I have played in many bands and once was considered one of the best guitarists in the region. I played up until my 30’s when, due to my battle with alcoholism and the guitar being a major trigger for me, I, in essence, lost my music. Now 20 years later, through sober eyes and mind, have found it again. Though it took time to regain my former ability, it was all still there. In many ways I feel I have improved over the former, something I have now that was lacking in the past is musical maturity. I now desire finesse and feel over speed and gimmick, although there is a time for that also. I have learned what is most important is to do what is right for the song, to be a musician first and a guitarist second.
Aside from Music I have many Hobbies and Interests. A few of them is as follows:
My Hobbies:
Sim Racing, Gaming, Photography, Web Development, Graphics Design.
My Interests:
Science, Cosmology, Physics, Philosophy, Poetry, Music, Art, eSports, Motorsports, Virtual Reality, Computer Science, Cryptocurrency.
Self Authored Quotes:
“Genius is often mistaken for idiocy, when perception is blurred by conformity.”
“If it weren’t for Procrastination, I would have mastered nothing! (btw I came up with this yesterday, but didn’t post it till today…go figure)”
"Music is life, no matter the genre, it is all an expression of human emotion, whether it be love or anger, joy or sorrow, we all have these emotions, and music is it’s reflection."
I look forward to getting to know Steemit. I hope to make posts enjoyable by all and be an active contributer to the community.
