Greetings, awesome people of Steemit. My introductionsteemCreated with Sketch.

Hi Steemit folks,
My name is Steffen and I am new to this community.
Norway is my country, as you can see on my "patriotic" photo below,
which btw was taken on my birthday last year.

IMG_20170502_075054_205.jpg

I am a screenwriter and poet; 32 years of age, soon to be 33 (please don’t say it out loud).
I like reading, entertaining, writing, movies, traveling, and lots more. (OMG, I'm starting to sound like an online dating profile...LOL.)
Anyway, I’m hoping to show you more of my passions, experiences, work etc. in future posts.

Primarily I focus on writing screenplays for Hollywood, I started about 5 years ago, but I also like writing rhymes, short poems, song lyrics and quotes.
Aside from my writing, I work as a part-time bartender and Coffee promotion agent to pay my bills.
I looked at some videos on youtube about how to make this post correctly, and one guy in a video said I should put a photo of myself holding a sheet of paper with “Steemit” on it, so I did that.

**Please let me know what you think of my very first post here on Steemit, I’m excited to know more about this place and the people here. I hope you will find my page to be entertaining.
Any tips or tricks for a new guy on the block?

Thanks a lot,
Cheers.**

Welcome to Steemit!
This is a great community of content creators. Steemit has a bit of a learning curve. So try to have patience to understand the platform, how to format your posts, and optimize your payouts.

Here are a few good resources for new users:

Let me know if you have any questions as a new user on Steemit, I am happy to help! You can follow me at @ngans. I post a lot about neuroscience, psychology, health, and philosophy.

Wow, thank you so much. I'll be sure to check it out. Yes, I understand it's a little complicated at first, but your tips will help me a lot. I am fascinated by psychology and philosophy, so that sounds good.

Hello and welcome to steemit:) @kongen85

Good luck for your steemit journey:)

Thanks dude,
I appreciate it.

Hey Steffen!

Welcome to Steem!
Well... I've got a heap of tricks and tips for you... but I don't want to overload you straight up... I am happy to answer any questions you might have though... oh, and also, don't vote too much at the start... no more than 10 votes a day, okay.

Have fun man!

Thank you.
I am really planning on keeping the entire thing a little casual, and not take things too seriously.
I am here to have fun and to share with everyone a little about my ventures.

What happens if you vote more than 10 times a day A. Ninja? :) I understand that the voting power goes down, but I never heard it could be negative to vote a lot! What the delio?

Hey hey!

Okay, so this is how it works:

Check out this link... it has a heap of details about your account:
https://steemworld.org/@kongen

You've currently got a voting power of 30%. It takes 2 hours and 20 minutes to repower 2%. So it's going to take you 3 days and 11 hours to get back upto 100%. The trick is that your vote worth, is dimishinished with every vote used. So as an example (https://steemworld.org/@aussieninja) my 100% vote is worth $0.04... but if I got down to 30% like you... then my 100% vote would be worth maybe $0.01... so people try to keep their voting power no less than 80% or less they aren't able to upvote their friends much money.

That's where the 10 times a day comes in... 10 times at 2% gets you down to 80% which takes 22 hours to repower.

Now, since you clearly love upvoting... there is something you can do about it. You're using Steemit... which means every time you click the upvote button, it gives the person a 100% of your vote. When you hit Steem Power of 500, then you get a slider... and you can then choose what percentage vote you can give. You could choose 50% votes, then you could do 20 a day... or 5% votes and do a trillion.

I'm sure 500 Steem Power feels a long way off... but you can use busy.org which is a different frontend (to the exact same data) and they give you the slider straight away.

It's pretty complex, and I'm not sure I've explained it well, but feel free to ask any followups...

im trying real hard not to upvote this reply of yours, hahahaha :) thanks so much for explaining. I will be reading your post thru more than once, to really understand it.. Its getting there. Im on busy right now. will try to activate the slider

okay, its working, but I had to give it at least 25% power to work! it made error below that

I am loving the chops! Your vibe comes through in the pictures! Lots of love! If your a screen writter for hollywoodpeople might expect better written posts...not that this is bad but clearly extreme potential for really well written posts...

Hello welcome to Steemit! I have had a great experience so far and I hope you do too! There are a couple of things I wish I was made aware of when I first joined. Ill bring up some uncommon things I've at least noticed people don't mention too often.

  1. Steemworld.org/@(your username)
-a (nearly) complete interactive page that gives you a better overall experience and overview of what is really happening on your steem page.
    -steemstats is not that good
-steemviz is a good pending payout site(does not include curation but has total pending payout including comment payouts)

  2. steemengine.net
-in my experience voting on steemengine.net does not give or bring better upvotes in a significant manner to make using your voting power worth it. HOWEVER...the followers gained is unreal. I gained 50 just yesterday. If you want you can use my referal link not required though...
    https://steemengine.net/join?r=633

  3. steemit school with @dobartim and @flysky https://discord.gg/q9VEn5n
A very informative and supportive group of people for minnows. Its fairly new but great basic support and tips there not to mention lots of contests and giveaways and love!

  4. if your going to buy upvotes for post promotion try and follow grumpy cat and his rules...

These are some uncommon things I wish I was made aware of early on when I first joined! I wish you the best and much success here helping us all grow this amazing platform!

Thanks for the love.
I guess I will evolve and make better posts the longer I stay on Steemit. At the same time, I also want to keep that true charm in just putting my mind out there sometimes.
Thanks for all the tips, I appreciate it.

Welcome to steemit Steffen
Great introduction post :) good and funny to read.I heard that in Norway there are such good social allowances that you do not have to work xD But this probably only from the Polish point of view;) I'm also new to steemit.

Cheers!

Thank you, friend.
The wellfare system is good here, but not everyone is eligible for it, and of course it's always better to work and contribute. We have Polish neighbors. Poland is nice, I spent a few days in Warsaw in 2008. Welcome to you too.
