The Corporate Entrepreneur

This is a very brief one, but try to follow it to the end for an interesting take home lesson.

This thought came to my mind today when i went for a meeting with one of my clients at my former workplace where i used to report 8am to 5pm Mondays to Fridays, which means i have to leave home latest 6am and then come back home at earliest 8pm.

Once i was done with the meeting, I met with one of my old colleague who is still working there, he simply said to me.

I just wish i have your kind of job working at my own time and place without reporting to anyone or being monitored.

And i also asked him that what plans do you have because it seems to me like you are not comfortable with your job, but i was disappointed when he replied to me saying for now I have a plan to start up my own business but for i don't really have enough capital but i know that one day i will leave this job and do my own stuff where i will be free with my own time.

The word one day means a lot, it can also mean forever, And if you are not careful, you will keep saying one day till one day will no longer be available for you.

Why the Corporate Entrepreneur

In the corporate environment, there are two categories.

1. those who are very comfortable with their job irrespective of the time and effort required from them.
   this set of workers are the most dedicated and concentrated workers because they are not disturbing themselves about leaving or owning their own business tomorrow, all they need is being well paid and taken care off of in terms of welfare.
2. Those who are also hardworking but also having it in mind to own their own business or organization. these are the once i call the corporate entrepreneurs
   Of a truth, this category of persons will not give 100% concentration reason being that at some instance they will definitely have to think the strategies they need to achieve their goals and many a times they will be out of the office trying to gain reputation with clients too.

If you belong to the second category, then most of the time you will be considering on how to start your own business, get good contracts and become independent.

My advice for the Corporate Entrepreneurs

Try as much as you can not to stay too long in that job where your mind is always telling you that you are not fine you need to do your own thing, this is because you might not give your full commitment to the job and as you know the place you are working also belongs to an entrepreneur who needs 100% productivity.
if you have a business idea or something interesting, never hesitate to get it started because the little time you give to it on every single day will lead to a big company one day, instead of saying i will start one day.
