New World Dad With Old School Attitude ~ My first post!

"Mom, how do I spell supercalifragilisticexpialidocious?", "Get the dictionary and look it up!". That was then, and some would say then was easier. This is now: "Dad, how do you spell antiquated?", "Did you google it, and are you calling me old?". I confess that I am a new world dad, with an old school attitude.

Growing up, I thought my mom's tactics for parenting were nuts, many of which I apply now myself. Even though I find these tactics to be viable in today's world, I often wonder how many people find them abusive or just outdated, and how many model themselves after me.

I have a 13 year old girl and a 10 year old boy. They are both straight A students, highly competitive, and overall great at everything they do. When it comes to behavior, they are on opposite sides of the spectrum. The term, you are your father's son, fits both for my son and I and my wife and our daughter. You will have to follow me to read future posts to find out who is who.

My future posts will highlight our children's antics and our tactics for rewarding and disciplining. I hope that I may be an inspiration for just one young parent, and that I may be inspired from others. I look forward to participating with the community in this new world, with my old school attitude!

welcome new-world-dad, look forward to reading about your family, it's always good to connect with other parents. happy steeming.

Thanks trucklife-family! I have some old Army buddies who hung up their boots for the road. One has grown kids, the other travels with his boy when time allows. He posts pics of his boy in his rig, and he always seems happy, but I am sure it is tough. Nice to meet you!

Welcome to the platform! It sounds like you and I have a bit in common. Us old guys with kids need to stick together around here.

Thank you! Raise a toast to the old guys!

This is why I come to steemit every day! I looked up your profile and saw that you have signed up recently so I'm feeling generous. One upvote for you and keep up the good work!
I know how hard it is as a fresh account so my advice would be to give @MinnowPowerUp a go as you can earn up to 30% more steem power than just powering up! It's a subscription based daily upvote bot that draws its power from a delegation pool. I made this post to explain the system in more depth and show how I earn over $1 a day in upvotes.
