Greetings and Salutations! Bringing the Art of Illustration to Steemit
Hello everyone. Name's Jennifer, my friends call me Niff. I'm a full time illustrator in Seattle and I've only just learned about Steemit today and I must say I'm already fascinated. I've been a blogger since 2005 (though I've been slacking since I've been illustrating full time) and excited to learn more about Steemit and blockchain tech.
Right now I am working with several clients as well as publishing books of my own work which include pieces such as:
I've been an artist as long as I can remember, though I've only been a full-time #illustrator for the last year. Prior to that I was working as a program manager in mobile app development. This past year has been quite a learning experience as I've had to adapt from managing multiple teams and projects to only managing myself and one project. (Turns out, I have a hard time punching out on the time clock.)
I have a passion for classical #art and #architecture and it carries over into most of what I do. I begin all of my pieces in pencil, just to get down the layout and composition, then the lines are inked in by hand with some value and shading added. For the pieces that are meant for print, I ink them digitally using an iPad Pro and Apple Pencil then convert them to vector. Why not just draw them digitally from the start you might ask? Mostly because the fine detail that is the trademark of my style is hard to capture when I can't see the entire piece at once when working in a digital medium. That and I prefer having original pen and ink versions of all my pieces. Makes them seem more tangible.
So, that's me. Happy to be here! Excited to catch up on the community and see what everyone is contributing.
Take care!
Hey niffiner, welcome to Steemit! Would you mind making some kind of verification on your blog that this is you? We try to get people to verify so that nobody can come and say they're you and steal your work. Thanks!
Sure thing - how do I do that, just a photo or something? Thanks!
Sure that works, a lot of people verify they're real by holding up a piece of paper with a message saying hi to Steemit with the date (to prevent people in the future from taking your pic and claiming it as their own).
Just a picture of you holding a paper with Steemit written on it, along with your username and date should be fine :)
Ack! Forgot the username - lemme try again =)
Ok! Think I got it this time. Thanks again!
Works perfectly :)
Intrigued by the intricate details in your illustrations, I am a fan of your work already. You're an asset to #art and the whole of Steemit community. Welcome aboard!
Thank you so very much! Excited to be here.
