Crypto Crazy and Loving It
Please allow me to introduce myself. I'm Morgan Pierce, mom & step-mom of 3 amazing now grown-ups, technology visionary, entrepreneur, investor and now STEEMate to all of you.
Technology has been my passion since 1982 when I first encountered an Apple IIe computer at my place of work.
This lonely computer sat in the corner of our offices at McGraw-Hill publishing company in New York City, no one would dare touch it. Within weeks I learned how to program in BASIC, fascinated with how the machine could make my job easier. I decided immediately to re-focus my studies at Columbia University from Mathematics to Computer Science & Economics.
In the early 1990s I led a team of developers to create one of the first commercial applications on the internet for the US Governments’ Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Our remit was to create a web-based trading platform so that each of the 50 states could trade excess electrical capacity across the US energy grid. It was obvious to me that the internet was the beginning of democratizing information and commerce for all of humanity.
In the late 1990’s I worked for Oracle Corporation as Head of Online Marketing for EMEA. Oracle had battled through the 1990s against Sybase and other database companies to become the global de facto database standard. But there was a problem – database technology at that time was not decentralized and I understood that until it was re-engineered to be fully compliant and therefore less vulnerable, significant change in information technology would not come about.
Blockchain and the digital currency explosion seem to be the manifestation of what has been flying around in my head for the last 3 decades.
Even though I’m 52 years young, I’m excited to be alive to see this paradigm shift speed towards the present. I feel like humanity is about to be catapulted into a new realm and I’m desperate to be a significant part of helping make it happen.
To that end, I’m thankful to have found the STEEM community. I’ve already learned loads from my fellow STEEMates (prefer that to ‘Steemians’!) – and in particular thanks to @kevinwong @stellabelle @forexbrokr @robcubbon @bulleth and @estefantt - and I’m looking forward to even more learning as the community grows.

Using irrelevant tags, especially popular tags, makes it hard to find good and relevant content.

#introduceyourself
The "introduceyourself" tag is for creating a post that tells us about you. Users are encouraging to use this tag exclusively for that, and not to reuse it.
Very well, I mostly find the most popular tags, however, the postings do not quite match the tags, why does this happen? Will there be a big effect? I hope you can explain it! Thank you, have a nice day!
