Reintroducing myself, a guy with a passion for indie games and rap music

image.png

This is a weird post for me to make but I feel like I have to explain what's going on and reintroduce myself to the English community. I'm bad enough at introducing myself, let alone reintroducing myself but here we go ! For those of you who have never heard of me, and I suspect that's most of you, my name is Dorian, also known as RagePeanut online. I've been on Steem for over a year under the account @ragepeanut and have tried my best to contribute to this community, my most known contribution being @checky which may have already visited some of you. About a year ago, I have decided to stop writing in English (except for Utopian posts) in order to focus on the French community. While I still want to prioritize my French posts, I have since changed my mind on not writing in English. The French community is great but there aren't many users interested by gaming there which results in most of my posts being commented only by bots and curation groups. To my knowledge, there are only three authors on Steem that regularly write French gaming related content, those being @ixindamix, @lesateliersphv (they both write in English too so go check them out !) and me. There isn't much room for interaction, I want some real interactions on my posts and I hope translating them to English will help with that. In order to not double post on my French account like I used to do a year ago, I've decided to create this account.

A little bit about me

As I said in the introduction to this post, my name is Dorian but online my username is RagePeanut. There isn't much history behind my username except that it came up when my friends and I decided to have similar usernames that respected a simple rule. They had to be made of the word "Rage" followed by the name of some food that started with the letter "P". From this simple rule was created my username along with some of my friends' usernames: RagePotato, RagePear, RagePineapple, RagePepper, RagePizza and RagePumpkin. I'm 20 years old, live in Belgium and am studying programming in Brussels. I've been interested in programming ever since I was 16 years old. I was obviously really bad at it back then and ended up making a horrendous website as a school project. When I look at it now, it makes me want to throw up but back then I thought it was the shit ! As you may have guessed from that website, I am in love with indie games ever since I watched Indie Game: The Movie in 2012, back when Humble Bundles were ridiculously qualitative. I just love how creative indie developers can be compared to big studios that try to make money by taking as little risks as possible.

What you can expect to see on my blog

I don't really want to limit myself to specific types of posts but you can be sure that my blog will always revolve around gaming and music. I like to review games so you can discover them or get some information that may help you with the decision of buying them. My favorite gaming posts though are those that require a bit of research on my end. I've only covered a few gaming topics in French, the latest one being the Epic Games Store, and will translate the ones that are still relevant in the following weeks. You may also see me post about specific bundles from time to time even though I try not to do that that much since it doesn't require much effort. As for music, I'd love to introduce those that I believe are the finest Belgian rappers to you since I care a lot about my country's rap scene. You can find below a recent Belgian song I can't stop listening to. I may also share some of the songs I like to listen to, bare in mind that those kinds of posts will only happen when I don't have enough time to write real posts. Finally, Utopian posts will keep being posted on my French account and I will resteem them with this account. I have decided to focus on my blog in 2019 though so there probably won't be that many Utopian posts on my blog next year. From now on, nearly every post I make on my French account will be translated to English the day after, that's what I'll try to do at least. Since I'm two weeks away from passing my exams, I'll focus on translating some of my French posts to English in my free time. I'll try to post the one about Epic Games tomorrow so stay around for that !

Some posts for you to read

I want to end this post with some of my English posts from before I went full French. Those are some of my favorite posts from this period so I really hope you will enjoy reading them.
  • Why games are good: 4 games that changed my life
This post, which was my last gaming one in English, was made for a challenge organized by @deadspace. I go in depth about the 4 games that influenced my life the most. You will also see that I complain about Journey being a PlayStation exclusive, if only I knew back then what Epic Games was about to achieve !
  • Belgian Rap's Finest - Roméo Elvis
This is the last English music post I put on Steem. Roméo Elvis was my favorite Belgian rapper at one point and while he isn't anymore, I still think he is really good at his craft. If I had to rewrite this post, I would probably add more content to the songs' descriptions, they feel a bit empty. Other than that, this is pretty much what you can expect from this series in the future.
  • 5 Indie Games You Should Definitely Check Out #9 | Edmund McMillen
Looking back at my English posts, I realize that I really don't have that many quality posts in English. This one will do though. Edmund McMillen is and probably always will be my favorite developer, he is the one that gave me that love for indie games and I will always be grateful to him for that.
There we go, I hope I didn't say anything stupid or incomprehensible in this post, I didn't spend much time reading over it to be honest and my English has become a bit rusty since I focused on French content. Anyway, it's getting late here so I have to end this post, hopefully I can see you soon under one of my coming posts !
