Shill Pill is NOT dead! (but I might need a little help)
I started Shill Pill in response to the fake news epidemic as it rose to prominence a couple of years ago.
It occurred to me that the mainstream media, who was pushing the fake news agenda so vigorously, was one of the worst purveyors of fake news out there. The hypocrisy of it was outrageous, and it moved me to action.
I had been waiting for an opportunity to use my coding and design skills to do something meaningful, and Shill Pill was it!
What if there was a website that could track something as intangible as "trustworthiness" of each individual news outlet and personality? Could a website spawn an open-source investigation into each and every pundit celebrity claiming to speak the singular truth? Could we hold their feet to the fire for past lies and misrepresentations, using democratic and evidence-based methodologies?
The very idea excited me.
For a couple of months I was on it like white on rice, building the website, developing branding and opening up social media accounts.
Then life happened. I lost a lot of my available time to a full time job, money issues, distractions and laziness. I was probably 80% of the way through the site build, but the convention wisdom that 80% of the time goes into the last 20% of a project is very true. The inspiring part was over, and all that was left was work, which I didn't have time to do.
It's time to admit that it's too much for me to handle on my own.
But you know what? Fuck all that. Shill Pill still has the same value today as it did then, so I'm recommitting myself! And this time, to make sure I don't slack off again, I want to build a team.
You can see the site I've built so far at http://shillpill.com. As you can see, it is pretty far progressed, but there is work left to do!
I need testers, I need data entry peeps, I need .NET MVC developers, and I need people with cred to help promote the idea. Perhaps guys like @corbettreport and @adamkokesh might re-post?
There is no money in it, but I think it's a worthy cause. Who's willing to step up and hear more about my idea?
