Introducing skitalk to Steemit. Avid skier joins Steemit.

in #introduceyourself8 years ago (edited)

Hey Steemit

I have been following steem now for a couple weeks now and have finally decided to join in a and start a little blog where I'm going to post about my ski trips and gear reviews. However first I think it is only fair to let you know a little about me.

Who am I?

First off my name is Rob I'm an avid 35 year old skier from Alberta, Canada who doesn't get to ski nearly as much as I would love to mostly do to work and other commitments. I have worked on the retail side of the industry since 1999 working primarily in the tech shop. However next season I hope to change all that as I have taken a different fulltime position and should get to hit up a number of our great hills in Alberta, BC and the Northwest US.

Why should you listen to me?

As I already mentioned I have been working in the ski industry for 17 seasons already. In that time I have seen a number of different changes in skiing come by and have never been afraid to tell it like I see it. Anyone still on snowblades or straight skis? I have had the privilege to work on the gear from two Olympians, a Paralympian plus countless others who have made development teams, professional freeski and freeriders. (I will post some pictures when I have the time to check with the athletes first).

What to expect?

I have access to a number of different types and brands of skis and knowledge in how to repair them if needed. So a little bit before the snow starts to fall and the hills start to open in November. I will start making guides for what to look for in skis, boots and the rest of the gear you will need to enjoy yourself on the hill. Then once the hills open I will start to report on the different hills I hit up and post pictures, snow reports and apres ski stories.

For now sit back and hope for a early snowfall in the mountains and the hope of waist high snowdays this winter. As an extra little teaser if you love to ski powder and have never been to Powderking put it on your bucket list with 1250 cm (41 ft) of snow fall annually even on a bad day you can find fresh tracks.

Welcome, glad to have you here. I suggest writing on a paper "Steemit "and the date to validate your account. Just what everyones doing ;)

Sounds fair but right now no one knows me so they will have a hard time even validating if it from anything else. The pictures I put on were from a couple seasons ago so was a little late to add a steemit tag in them. (it was in the high 20s Celsius today so there isn't much in the way for snow around).

Once I start writing the guides and the regular blog posts I will make sure I put one in most of the posts I make.

it just lets people know you haven't taken pictures off the internet and put them up. Don't even need your face just have the steemit paper in a nice snow filled area.

Ciao! Ciao!
