When life doesn't go right

Friends.
Girls.
Sex and the City.

Have any of us ever lived in that kind of apartment?
Are our friends really that supportive and put together?
Is dating in the city that fun and glamorous?

Swipe Left is a show that says, "Hell no!" and aims to show the real New York: a grittier, zanier, and definitely more diverse version of what we see on TV.

After an untimely divorce at the ripe old age of 29, Ella decides the best way to recover her self-esteem is through casual sex. And her friends have chosen Tinder for her to do it. Unfortunately, the only thing more awkward than Ella are her dates.

Don't expect too much help from her friends though: a group of misfits who are way too self-involved. They live in New York City after all. Janet is on a mission to become the famous actress she was born to be. Thereʼs just one problem: her agent, Kronos, who canʼt seem to get her an acting job. After finally landing a spot on "The Great Vegan Bake-off" (although she is neither a vegan nor a baker) she ropes her roommate, Lydia, into being her partner. Meanwhile their neighbor, Al, embarks on ever-changing side-hustles to scramble together enough money to pay the rent.

It all seems to be going well and everyone expects things to work out, but, alas, this is Swipe Left, a show where things never go right.

Shot as a mockumentary, the show follows the characters, documenting their failures as they attempt to overcome their self-made obstacles. In the process, it highlights and pokes fun at everyday absurdities like over-priced lattes, mumble rappers, and online dating. And while the main characters are entertaining and keep us coming back, it's the side characters, who pop up unexpectedly, that make the show what it is. Like the bouncer who wears his sunglasses at night "because he heard that one song that one time." Cue Corey Hart's "Sunglasses at Night." Or a barista who designs ambiguous fall shapes into his lattes, shapes that look unmistakably phallic.

Ultimately, Swipe Left is just a good time laughing at the city we all love to hate and full of characters that you'll never want to date.

Hi and welcome here! When I started on steemit, my biggest problem was to find interesting people to interact with. So, to help newcomers getting started I created a directory with other interesting and or talented steemians to follow or interact with. Feel free to check it out at https://www.steemiandir.com I am sure it will help you find like-minded people. Enjoy your stay here and do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions!

Appreciate this!

Welcome to Steem, Swipeleft! I had to laugh when the Dominican rapper called out, "No one knows what you're talking about!" Wishing you success with your series and I hope that you have a great day.

We encourage everyone to explore the various posts and to leave personal comments on those that you wish (for example - thoughts regarding the content or a sharing of a similar experience you've had). This platform thrives through interaction as it's the best way to build relationships with other Steemians while finding communities and initiatives that peak your interests.

We like to advise bloggers to cite if images, videos, etc. used in their posts are of their own creation. This practice gives the creators an opportunity to have it clearly labeled that the works portrayed are the rightful property of the party posting it.

Another tip that we share with everyone is to be careful of copyright infringement when using material that is not of their original creation. Content (for example - images from a website) that grants permission for reuse is acceptable for content creators to utilize within their posts provided there is appropriate attribution to the source. Here's a link that will provide you with more information.

Welcome to the steemit community @swipeleftseries!
We sincerely hope you find everything you are looking for here and have found a new home.

Seven suggestions:

  1. Use your passwords carefully, and only publish with the posting key,
  2. Use your active key only for wallet transactions,
  3. The master password is only to reset compromised passwords,
  4. DO NOT lose your passwords; copy and store offline,
  5. Do not publish other people's work, be it photos or written without credit,
  6. An introduceyourself tag is used only once, and
  7. When you open your steemit.com, in the upper right corner of the page there are 3 bars. Click on those, and then on the "welcome", and you will get a lot of reading material that will help you.

I found you because @xcountytravelers and @brittandjosie from @heyhaveyamet presented and promoted your publication to get more exposure and help you grow faster.

If you find yourself overwhelmed and need some guidance, or if you have any questions, there are informed Steemians available who can help you; You can click to go to the Steem Terminal in Discord here:
