The Writers' Block is a Discord community that has been running for the past month or so. It began life as the Fiction Workshop at the Minnow Support Project's Discord channel, PALnet. Since moving to our new server we have spread our wings to incorporate many different writing disciplines.

Our first workshop is dedicated to writing fiction and is at the core of our community. Many members such as @jrhughes, @tinypaleokitchen, @thinknzombie, and @bex-dk help out there, but at the helm and steering the workshop are @rhondak - published author and editor - and @carolkean - author and book critic for Perihelion, NetGalley and AmazonVINE. Our service includes a submissions queue where writers can submit their work for workshopping, editing and critiquing, helping to polish the rough edges off work before it is posted to Steemit.

Next up is the poetry workshop, run by the talented @geke and @sunravelme. Poets can type their creations into the chat and workshop it with the group before committing it to the blockchain.

The playwright workshop is led by @pegasusphysics and is for fictional storytelling mediums that start with a script: stageplays, audio plays, screenplays, and comic books.

For writers who need help with non-fiction, this workshop is run by @anarcho-andrei and @jasonbu. Again, there is a submission queue to use before posting to Steemit.

Technical writing is the process of writing and sharing information in a professional setting. A technical writer's primary task is to convey information to another person or party in the clearest manner possible. @Jasonbu and @anarcho-andrei also run the technical writing workshop, where the submissions process is the same.

Our newest workshop is dedicated to songwriting. Writing song lyrics may be likened to poetry, however, form, articulation, meter, and symmetry of expression must be taken into account. @uniwhisp leads this workshop. Lyrics can be typed straight into chat to workshop them.

As you can see, we love the written word in all its forms. We lead a relaxed atmosphere where all writers new and experienced can either get help or lend a hand to fellow Steemians.

This account will serve as our primary community account, which our senior members can use freely to write posts regarding our community and our projects.

My favorite place on the planet.

Great work guys, there is a lot of talent coming through thanks to the great work you're doing.

Excellent

Definitely one of the better blocks on the blockchain.

It's not just a discord server, it's like a big, slightly crazy family. Love all of you!

Thanks for attending Thursday’s Pimp Your Post Thursday @thewritersblock. I have written a post to share your featured post from last night. Just stopping back to let you know that you can see your [name in lights](https://steemit.com/pypt/@shadowspub/pimp-your-post-thursday-report-from-october-26th) right here. (Just kidding about the lights :)

To anyone who thinks steemit is the place to be and yet it somehow feels just slightly too lonely in these vast waters - The Writers' Block is the the answer! It just augments the steemit experience so perfectly. Heck, I received a video greeting from a raccoon today! ^^
Solid 5/7, would definitely try again!
