Steemit and The Six Human Needs

I wrote a few lines, deleted them, started again, repeated that a few times, and finally decided to scrap the idea of creating some kind of professional-sounding, not so casual introduction because everything I was writing felt too wooden and dull.

So here goes, 'Welcome to Me':
Voluntaryism and hiking, philosophy and kettlebells, logic and fantasy novels and tabletop roleplaying games and paleo and religion and technology and personal growth and thriving are what interest me... and more! I have posted and written about all of those things at one time or another because I enjoy writing something at the moment one of my interests sparks the idea to write about it.

Hiking in Arizona

That's me, Tom Gorman, hiking the Superstition Mountains of Arizona.

However, I do have something of a priority-order of my values which effects what I will write about most often. I agree with Tony Robbins' list of what are 'The Six Human Needs' and I have found that I naturally prioritize them this way in my own life:

1. Connection / Love

2. Growth

3. Contribution

4. Variety

5. Certainty / Comfort

6. Significance

Which works out to mean that voluntaryism, peaceful communication, learning how to be healthier and better in every way personally, sharing what I learn with others and promoting the people whose work I think most helpful for us all to know, shying away from becoming mono-focused and tedious, building financially, emotionally and physically secure environments for myself and my loved ones, and enjoying the gratitude and acknowledgment of those who lives I have positively impacted is a pretty good summary of what I am about as I journey through this life.

How great will it be as I am making tons of money through my writing and sharing via Steemit? It will mean I am getting some part of every one of my six human needs met!

By Steemit's very structure it would mean that I am connecting and contributing and being acknowledged for it. It would bring my family and I some additional financial certainty and comfort. I would be growing as a person in many ways including my ability to think and communicate effectively, all while doing so with a variety of people on a plethora of subject areas!

Which begs the question: Could Steemit be the answer to a life lacking purpose, meaning and fulfillment?

There is only one way to find out!

"Come on in boys, the water is fine!"

That's my sometimes awkward sense of humor. Ha ha And thanks, man! For an unknown, I'll see where I can take it.
