Kinoblog # 4. I watched the movie "Hacksaw Ridge" and I want you to share with me your impressions. @Vetal
Mel Gibson, like no other, is gifted to select an incredibly talented team of film makers. This applies to the cast, screenwriters, cameramen, editors, composers. All of them perform their tasks at the highest level, the result of which is a fascinating movie with their entertainment.
Already from the first frames of the film, we are faced with an extremely naturalistic picture of the infernal horrors of the war in the spirit inherent to Mel Gibson. This is what distinguishes his films - the absence of any framework of censorship in ethical considerations.
The first half of the film tells us about the path of the usual lean guy Desmond Doss to the real "nekostyumirovannom hero" of the Second World War.
We learn about the family of the protagonist, in which the alcoholic father (a member of the fighting in the past) dissolves his hands towards him, his brother and mother. An example of a father does not stop a young man on his way to writing to the volunteers of the US Army as a medic, that to save human lives. Neither bullying, beatings, nor even the military tribunal itself can convince him to even touch the rifle. And only the old military merits of Desmond's father help Yusosh accomplish this.
In the second half of the film, we see the most horrifying, frightening, perhaps even excessive naturalistic, shots where a bloody meat grinder is being fought between US and Japanese troops. In one of the battles Desmond, a lean and quiet boy, showing miracles of the incredible fortress of the spirit and the power of faith, is committing the impossible-alone (and of course, without weapons) rescues 75 wounded comrades in 12 hours, despite firing from the air and the remaining enemy soldiers on the battlefield. Where could such superhuman powers originate from a lean fellow who did not even eat meat according to his religious beliefs? From the object of ridicule and contempt, Desmond becomes an example of courage and fortitude for all soldiers and officers.
Thus, Mel Gibson chose a win-win option for shooting a military-patriotic film based on a genuine incredible story of the Second World and did his work above all praise. Even though he did not receive an Oscar for best direction, he was able to be rehabilitated in the public eye for all his shoals of the recent past
