Dear SteemIt reader 👋,
I'm Vincent, a #WebDeveloper based mostly in Europe 🇪🇺, working for the Open source world, and still discovering about the Steem and SteemIt ecosystem.
I say based mostly in Europe as I cannot localize myself more precisely.
My lifestyle is called Digital Nomad 🌎.
That means that I live footloose since 2013 and I travel with my backpack and my office (ok, I'm talking about some 13" laptop sticking with me constantly…) all around, buying one-way tickets.
On top of French, my numerous travels give me the opportunity to practice English (duh!), sometimes Italian, to pretend I speak Spanish, to get my ear accustomed to Arabic (which I'm trying to learn), and eventually some day Swedish? I used to badly speak Sign Language (FR) 👐 but that's as tricky as interesting (and trust me that's interesting!). I had Dutch back in the days but it evaporated 🛰.
Through my work I daily practice languages like #Python and #JavaScript. Occasionnally I would go into more diverse languages like Ruby, ELM, Rust, Julia,…
I advocate Best Practices, future-proof over retro-compatibility, and minimalism in the code and in my life.
But let's not get too technical here! 🤓
How I've been introduced to Steem(It)
My trips led me to Vienna 🇦🇹 in April 2018.
There I met members of the network including @jnmarteau, @manncpt, @mammasitta and also the communities of @silkroad40, @globalschool, @opt2o.
I even had the chance to participate to the anniversary 🎂 of #steemit-austria and meet @vienarch, @geix, @sciencevienna, @smartcoins (and discovered the existance of @austroboost), and many others nice members that I cannot list here.
That is a very prosper environment for discovering about the community, isn't it?
Many topics in perspective
While being here I will write about various topics: technical stuff about #WebDevelopment, traveling subjects with #nomadism, thoughts that are helpful for me to share and collect feedbacks, #privacy and #security online.
Other topics will be covered over time.
Projects on the run, and Neomad
A cooperative for long-term work
I co-founded Scopyleft in 2012, a cooperative company involved into Web-Development and team collaboration.
Our aim is to develop citizen projects, working shoulder to shoulder with our clients.
We also invest ourselves in side projects and Nonprofits such as Anthropedia for well-being and Library Without Borders for education.
Neomad, the Digital Nomad's community
Last year I initiated an ambitious project called Neomad (@neomad).
We are now a small team of volunteers with @fuentesloic (🙌) and others spread around USA🇺🇸, Canada🇨🇦, Iceland🇮🇸, France🇫🇷, and some unlocalizable locations (you know, nomads…).
The small team is contributing to Neomad as an open source project whenever time permits!
All help is highly appreciated to get the project going further. 🙏
Other projects
Currently, some projects I'm involved in include: organizing workshops for people willing to experiment nomadism 🏕 and for developers needing to update their knowledge ㉆, transforming homes into collaborative spaces 🤝, testing new forms of education and learning 🎓, getting involved into local moneys 💸 (you know, the non-digital non-crypto old kind of currencies), creating optimized traveler accessories 🎒, building the faster Python web-server (Yes, it is 🚀!), getting homeless participating into social work ⛑, and much much more are in progress.
There is a lot to do and little time per day.
However, getting people collaborating empowers creativity thus feasibility.
Knowing more
You probably had enough. However, if you came to be over-curious 🧐 of what I work on and you are willing to exchange about it, you may find my code on GitHub.
If you're more into the #DigitalNomad aspect, my profile on Neomad will tell you more.
Other links are a global personal introduction, a technical blog, and my Twitter.
Welcome to steemit Vinyll! As a newbie in front-end web dev, I’ll be looking forward to your numerous posts on web dev
Thanks again ;)
Welcome to steemit, just learned about you from @mammasitta and got curious about your neomad project;-) The digital nomad lifestyle is not yet possible for me but I find it very interesting to observe this trend, so thanks for sharing so much information about you and your passion:-))
Thanks @zuckerzombie for the warm welcome!
I'd be interested to know what would inspire you in the nomad lifestyle and what is blocking you right now. These are topics that we are working on with the @neomad project.
Feedbacks will be more than welcome :)
Thank you for your interest @vinyll ;-) What inspires me in the nomad lifestyle is the idea that as human beings, we need to start seeing ourselves as global citizens of the planet first and members of our individual nation, religion or culture second. In my opinion this value would bring more peace and happiness to the world. Right now I cannot practice this kind of lifestyle as I have to kids who are required to attend school and my current business is not scalable or rather I haven't yet established a scalable business yet;-)
The nomadic lifestyle with kids and education is always a true topic.
I had actually met a couple with 2 kids in Bulgaria last year. They were from Australia and traveled the world for a year. The kids were going to schools on the way and the parents were teaching. Trust me the 2 young kids had become so well adapted to the new learning and social intelligence that I started to believe it's a real thing for kids.
This is good to hear, as the new generation of digital nomad kids will be more conscious about world-centrism and this will not only help to reform global education but also will help to transform the world to become more pluralistic:-)
That's indeed the idea we want to spread with Neomad and the Nomad Schools. Any supportive energy in that direction is helpful. Thanks for spreading :)
You found us ! Yeah! 🙀
Yeay, just entered your facebook group also and figuring out what's different about ONO;-)
Super!!!
Welcome welcome ! Hope you enjoy your time here . Dont pay attention to the spammers. I study Programming so i am curious to check on what you are working right now :))
Oh sweet! You're not blogging about programming yet thought. What technologies do you do?
I'm still in Uni and learning a lot different stuff. I dont think that i will blog about this anytime soon. I dont really know still in which direction to go. Web Development, Mobile App Development, Security etc. I need to see what is most wanted now on the market and for the future, and also see what i like to do :)
The need "on the market" is wide. As long as you are coding, there's always room for you.
Also you may want to consider mobile and web at the same time as the technologies are really tight to each other.
Security is a whole topic on its own.
Anyways, I'll be open to discuss and to read about it if you ever get into it.
I was also thinking of offering some tutorials for coding, but is there an audience for that?
I have seen already guys doing it and yes there are. As long as they are interesting, fun and well explained people will like them. Also nowadays in my opinion the people want to learn some basic programing language :) So consider making them.
Not sure if I should go for basic or advanced with best practice. I feel like advanced programming is lacking even more.
Any opinion?
You could go fast through the basics with 3-4 tutorials and then do more interesting and advanced stuff
Out of the first 5 comments, 4 are advertising… 🤔
Have I been targeted or is it usual?
That's usual. The #introduceyourself tag is really powerful. :)
I guess there's a lot to learn on this platform 😀
Yes that's true. Take your time and steem on!
I think it is because of the tags an the platform start to become popular, so a lot of spam bots
Yes thanks. I updated my tags from #steemit🏷 to #steemit-austria🏷
Salut et bienvenue sur la Steem Blockchain. Formidable intro. J'espère que tu passe un bon temps ici. A bientot
Hey! Merci. J'oubliais que tu parles français ! Merci pour l'accueil. J'essaie encore de comprendre un peu comment tout ça fonctionne, et j'ai un bon environnement pour ca avec la communauté #steemit-vienna !
Welcome to the community! :)
Thank you so much!
I'm really looking forward to follow your incredible adventures from here!
This is the update about my last week on the road: With the ferry through the Balkan heading to the Bosporus along the historic Silk Road to China. Check it out! ;)
Oh wow! I'm going to read that right away! Seems like you have indeed hit the road heading to the east… 🌏
Welcome on the steem blockchain! Continue like that. :)
Thanks so much for the warm welcome ♥

Thanks @trillex!
I'm still not sure how to meet and interact with the developers community here.
If you have any hint or recommendation that will be appreciated :)
There are couple of em unfortunately I don’t know any channel on how to meet others. However, you can check out the “programming” tag to find most Devs on here! Cheers
Indeed, the #programming tag is a good resource.
I was told and I confirm that the #utopian-io tag has some consistent articles as well!
Oooh yeah that’s very true! I heard of that a while back, thanks for reminding me.
Hi, vinyll! Wish you a very rewarding expereince here on Steemit! All the Best
Thanks, I'm really looking forward to share and discover a lot here 👍
