Hello to my fellow Steemians! I'm VRtisan!

Hello!

Hello everyone, I'm VRtisan! I'm a Virtual Reality producer based out of Los Angeles, and I'm so excited to finally start posting some content! I joined Steemit in June of last year and had planned on becoming much more involved with the community, but I ended up getting a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to help create an amazing VR experience, so that's had me fully tied up until now. (still finishing up post production but will be sure to share when its ready!). I'm finally getting my life back so I can finally start putting more time into this amazing community!

Who am I?

As mentioned, I'm a Virtual Reality producer based out of Los Angeles (born and raised). Over the last couple of years I've had the privilege of creating content for entities such as the Los Angeles Kings, BAMMA Mixed Martial Arts, Mercedes, Audi, Bentley, Honda and more. Virtual Reality has opened so many doors and windows for me, and I feel truly blessed to be a part of the industry as it grows into maturity. It's an exciting time for tech in general, but VR is one area that I feel has a lot of potential to help change the world for the better. And I'll be digging into that in some of my future posts!

Aside from my passion for VR, there are a few other subjects that I love, that I hope to share with all of you. Some of my main interests include the history and culture of my wonderful city, music (jazz, funk, soul and good hip-hop among others), contemporary philosophy and sociology, mixed martial arts, hockey, cryptocurrency and food!

Why Steemit?

I'm a long time Redditor (which is how I found out about Steem) and one of the things I've been noticing most over the years is how the quality of discussion has gone down due to pointless comments that don't contribute to the conversation, bots, novelty accounts and just a general lack of staying on subject. When I first started Reddit, the thing that drew me to it the most were the comment sections. I learned so much from so many smart and talented people. Reddit helped me launch my second business, gave me access to a crazy amount of resources and helped me get into VR before most people even knew what it was. I'll always have a special place in my heart for that amazing site, but alas, all good things must come to an end.

And this is one of the main reasons I'm so excited about Steemit! I love the importance that is put on not only quality content, but quality comments as well! Everything generally seems to stay on topic and the community is shaping up very nicely. This feels like home, and I'm happy to be here!

Why follow me?

I hope to add to the quality of this site through well researched and well formatted posts. I'll be posting about various subjects including some of my favorite places in LA, my adventures in Virtual Reality, the psychology behind cryptocurrency trading, music history, various tutorials and a couple other random subjects. If anyone has any specific types of content they're hoping to see more of on Steemit, please let me know in the comments! I'm also interested in following people with great content so if you have great content, be sure to let me know in the comments so I can follow you!

Cheers everyone, have a great day! Please be sure to follow me if this post inspires you to do so!

Hey mate, welcome to Steemit! I'm sure you'll enjoy it here, the community is great. I look forward to seeing your content. You sound like an interesting guy... I really hope VR kicks off in the future, it's just a shame there's still quite a high price barrier for entry with things like the HTC Vive and Oculus Rif.t

If you are interested in cryptocurrency, my blog is going to do an overview series of the top 100 coins and it'd be great if you could give me a follow... I've just released my third post on BAT but I've got many more to come!

Hope you have a nice day :)

Thanks for the warm welcome, Nathan! Yeah, I've been hiding out in the background getting to know the site better, and I felt that now was the time to jump in with both feet!

You're absolutely right about VR, the price barrier really is the biggest thing standing in the way of mass adoption, and in my opinion the only really great VR is coming from the desktop headsets like the Vive and Rift (although the Pimax 8k headset is looking pretty interesting!). I'm in it for the long haul though, as I know that once we can remove the high price barrier, the world will finally get to see what I've been seeing for the past few years.

Yup, definitely interested in cryptocurrency! I'm a big fan of Ripple and Stellar, and I think once the FairX exchange opens up, Stellar is going to be making big moves! Following you now, looking forward to reading your posts! Have a great day, too!
