THE SHAMANS OF NEPAL ( DHAMI/JHAkRI)

I am 21 years old boy now who was born in Kathmandu Nepal (The City of temples ) and have been traveled to various places of my own country Nepal. The country where mount everest lies. The country where 32 cast and 4 varnas are earning there living. As I was born in hindu family i hav been brought to many temples since my childhood. I was curoius to kno about the spritual world i found somthng related to it in my own nation. As Shaimanism exits old wide, it share some of the common belives. Like as spirits exits. some may be good and some may be evil which affect us. Shaimanism belive tht they can cure the sickness caused by them , they can predict the future. Shaimanism is aslo taken as a traditoin of Nepal people call them Dhamis and Jhakris. Nepali shamans were various kind of ornamets and carry two-sided drum (dhyangro). They belive these intrument and ornaments help them to connect with spitritual world.

Various types of disesas are also hav been cured by Nepali Shamans. They pescribe various medicinal herbs. As soothsayers, they go into trances and act as spokesmen of the gods while as spritual sentries. As a healer, they examin animal entrails for signs, collect medicinal plants, perform sacrifices exorcize demons, chant magical incantation etc.
