Diet can cure severe health problems? One thing that truly works!

in #introduction7 years ago

Ok so I just joined steem the other day, one of many changes that I've made during this past year and a half. I'm the first person to admit that I really don't like change....in any fashion, shape or form. I would also like to point out that change is sometimes good, or even necessary.

I would like to begin my journey with you all here at Steem by telling you about my personal journey during this past year and a half (roughly). This story relates to losing health, and gaining it back. Personally I'm perfectly healthy and happy....but my girlfriend started having very strange symptoms about two years ago; aching joints, stiffness....headaches and the list goes on and on.

We both worked in the same place at the time....a very physically demanding job that involved being on our feet for 12 hour shifts on concrete. Not long after her symptoms cropped up, they started getting worse....severely.

Going from aching joints to barely being able to get up from the couch....not being able to sleep because of the pain in her knees and back. We went to a bunch of doctors and "specialists" and they were all equally baffled. One orthopedic surgeon pretty much told her "you'll need both your knees replaced within the year". Too bad so sad, right? Now mind you we were both in our early thirties!

We prayed about it as hard as we could, and wouldn't you know it.....the last specialist she went to see identified her problem.....psoriatic arthritis (please excuse the spelling). She had zero visual symptoms......the one piece of evidence that tipped the doctor off was a tiny tiny raised bump on the back of her neck. At this point my girlfriend was willing to try anything just to be able to move! She was prescribed some of the worst medicine that you can think of.....possible side effects consisting of cancer, abdominal bleeding, intestinal tears....a laundry list too long to write about here. She was prescribed the maximum dosage and the symptoms started to alleviate slowly but surely.

My girlfriend's cousin is a chiropractor that we go and see pretty frequently.....and she has a different type of auto immune disease called Chrohns. She mentioned a diet to us and swore up and down to how good it is and how she had to take no medication to manage her disease. We looked at each other and said "uh huh" and didn't pay much attention to it.

A few months go by and the medicine that my girlfriend is on starts losing its potency....her knees started to get worse again and visual signs of psoriasis started to appear on her scalp. We decided it was time for a hail mary and we went on this diet. No joke.....hand to God....7-9 months later and my girlfriend had weaned herself off this (for all intents and purposes) lethally dangerous medicine and never felt better. She now functions like the auto immune disease pretty much never happened.

This diet that I am referring to is called the Specific Carbohydrate Diet. I'm including a link to it here: http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info/p/beginners-guide/

There is also an APP for smartphones that you type in the food that you're wondering about and it will tell you if it's allowed or not. It's very restrictive, but with some imagination and a plethora of recipes, one can make some very good food and stay on this diet forever.

What makes me truly mad, is now that we go back to her doctor for whatever reason and we tell her about this diet and what it has done for us.....the doctor's response is "Oh I've heard about that!" ....Thanks a lot doc! Appreciate the info now....after you pumped my girl full of super expensive, super dangerous medicine!

If you're suffering from an auto immune disease or anything related, at least read up on this one.....it has the potential to do some very good things for you too I think!

Please don't take any of this as medical advice....I'm certainly not qualified to give any
