Ogoh-ogoh is one of the Hindu tradition especially in Bali in welcoming Nyepi Day. The tradition of parading ogoh-ogoh in Bali is commonly called "pengerupukan". Pengerupukan usually done exactly the day before Nyepi Day.

Historical origins of ogoh-ogoh especially in Bali there are several different versions. Some say ogoh-ogoh known since the days of Dalem Balingkang where at that time ogoh-ogoh used during ceremony pitra yadnya. There is also a opinion that ogoh-ogoh is inspired from Ngusaba Ndong-Nding tradition in the village of Karangasem Strait. Other information mentioned that ogoh-ogoh appeared around the 70's.

Whatever the opinion about the history of the origin of ogoh-ogoh in Bali, today even though Jaman is growing, technology is getting more advanced but ogoh -ogoh is also getting known even become one of traditions that eagerly awaited by Balinese and even local or foreign tourists.

Ogoh-ogoh is a tradition that will continue to exist from time to time, because it is an art and creativity indefinitely by young Balinese people.
