I had to laugh at your comment about "stupid Google updates", I work in web dev and was weird for generally refusing to pander to Google for the exact reason that you don't know whe their next update will blow all your careful Google optimisations out of the water.

Thanks. Google loves to keep us on our toes! Makes me crazy. I'm seriously considering throwing in the towel and writing all of my "blog posts" on Steemit from now on. 100% decentralized.
Not a bad idea XD I cross-post from my blog which gets everything, Steemit is currently getting everything the blog does because the stuff I was intending to "specialise" in on Steemit just so happens to be all I'm doing/posting about atm anyway. Art sites just gets art stuff.
Basically I keep the blog because then everything is in one spot and I can do whatever with it. Just in case Steemit ups and vanishes one day (unlikely but you never can tell, I can be slightly paranoid sometimes ;D)
There's other websites that interact with the blockchain as well such as busy.org, I was playing around with it for a while and would probably recommend it and its Medium style editor to people who want an easier method of formatting their posts. Control freaks like me are better off with the markdown editor on steemit :)
