At exactly twelve o'clock in the evening, Safa---a seventeen-year-old girl---who was studying Islam at a boarding school, in West Java, suddenly woke up because her stomach felt sick.
The sweet black girl then jogged to the toilet for female students to defecate. He dared to go there alone because he couldn't stand it anymore, with heartburn disturbing his deep sleep.
After nearly twenty minutes of being in the toilet, the girl came out with a relieved face. He didn't even feel heartburn anymore. He then swung his legs to return to the kobong and continued sleeping.
However, when the girl whose full name was Safa Syaidatul Rohmah walked away, she heard a commotion in one of the female students' toilets, followed by screams and hysterical screams from a woman.
“Please… don't kill me. Forgive me… I beg you!” she shouted. Then, fresh blood came out from under the toilet door.
Safa was very surprised and frightened when she saw him. Her hands and feet were shaking violently. He then ran to the kobong to wake up the female students.
All the female students who were sleeping were instantly startled awake because Safa was banging on the hollow door, screaming in a panicked tone.
"Wake up everyone, come on hurry up. In the toilet there is a woman asking for help because she is about to be killed!” Safa spoke while continuing to bang on the door of the kobong/room of a fellow santri.
The students were suddenly shocked when they heard the words of the girl in the gray headscarf. They immediately came out and approached Safa, then tried to calm her down.
"What is it? Why do you say like that? This is an Islamic boarding school, so how could someone do something heinous. Besides, in this hut there are two security guards who take turns guarding day and night. Don't be silly, okay?" said one of the female students who is the same age as Safa.
"I'm serious, earlier I heard a woman screaming for help from one of the female students' toilets and there was blood coming out of the room. If you don't believe it, let's go there, pity that woman!” asked Safa with a panicked look on her face.
They all immediately looked at each other. Then, the students decided to wake up the teaching team.
One of them then worked up the courage to knock on Ustazah Ria's door. Not long after, the ustazah opened the door while yawning and nodding off.
However, when she saw the female students gathered in front of her room, Ustazah Ria immediately rubbed her eyes and glared.
"What's going on? Why are you all gathered here? It's already late. Come on, come on, go to sleep!" ordered the woman wearing the bergo hijab firmly. "Don't wake up late at dawn!"
"Sorry, Ustazah, we are disturbing. But we want to talk to Ustazah," said one of the students named Fera.
"What do you want to talk about? Why do you have to talk in the middle of the night? Just talk tomorrow. Now you better sleep!" Ustazah Ria put her hands on her hips.
Then, Safa suddenly grabbed the thirty-year-old ustazah's wrist and took him to the female students' toilet.
"Come on, Ustazah, we have to hurry to the toilet!" Safa still looks panicked.
"What are you doing to go to the toilet? I don't want to shop anymore, really!" the round-faced ustazah refused.
"A--um, U--u---
"Snot?" cut, the woman with two children guessed the words of one of the students whose speech was stuttering named Santi.
"Ma'am--no, Us--Ustazah, but--but in to--to--"
"Toges?" The woman guessed again and finally she annoyed herself. "It's taking too long to talk, what are you actually going to do? Use me to go to the toilet with everything?"
"That, Ustazah, Safa said he heard that someone was being abused in the toilet and was about to be killed," replied another female student who wore a black hijab named Meli.
"Astagfirullahaladzim!" said Ustazah Ria in a high tone of voice because she was surprised.
All the students were also shocked when they heard the teacher's voice. They instantly gasped and hugged each other.
"Oh, Ustazah, just startle us!" they said.
"I'm the one who should say that. You guys wake me up in the middle of the night and say there's been a murder." Ustazah Ria exhaled roughly. Then, he glanced at Safa. "You must be sleeping. Where did something like that happen here? Well, you better go back to your kobong and continue sleeping. Come on, hurry up!"
"No Ustazah, I really heard clearly that in one of the female students' toilets there was someone who was being abused and was about to be killed. We have to help her quickly!" asked the sixteen year old girl sure. His face looked scared too.
Because he kept insisting, finally the ustazah whose full name is Ria Fakhira followed Safa's invitation to go to the toilet specifically for female students.
"Yeah, we're going there right now!" The woman spoke loudly and boldly.
"But, Ustazah, shouldn't we just wake up Kiai haji Anwar?" asked Fera. "Or call the cottage security."
"Don't ... it won't be good if we wake him up," replied the slant-eyed ustazah. "We'll just have a look there, then we'll call security. I'm afraid this is just a hoax!"
"This is real, Ustazah, not a hoax. To be sure, we have to go there now, let's hurry!" Safa again pulled the wrist of her Koran teacher.
Even though they were afraid, all the students also went to the toilet. They walked behind Ustazah Ria and Safa while holding hands.
As they approached the toilet, their steps slowed down. Safa then pointed towards one of the rooms earlier by him.
Ustazah Ria then took a deep breath and let it out slowly. After that, he stared intently at the toilet that Safa pointed at.
"Okay, if there is a woman in that room who is being abused and even threatened with death, we have to help her. We have to be brave, not afraid!" said the ustazah.
"That's right, Master!" replied the female students while clenching their fists and holding them up.
"Okay, then... Fera, why don't you go ahead and open the toilet door!" the woman's order made her students gape.
"Hah, but--but, why should I be Ustazah?" Fera suddenly stammered with fear. "Just now it was Ustazah who said you have to be brave and don't be afraid. So, why can't Ustazah go first?"
Other students were also surprised. "Yes, Ustazah, why not just Ustazah? Could it be... Ustazah is scared, huh?"
"I am brave, you know, not a coward," said the ustazah. "Here, look, I'll prove it right now."
The woman with a small mole on her chin then started walking into the toilet, with her legs shaking slightly because she was actually a coward, but always claimed to be brave.
Then, slowly Ustazah Ria held the toilet doorknob that Safa had pointed to and opened it. Cold sweat the size of a peekaboo suddenly seeped down the girl's forehead.
When the door opened, it turned out that no one was in there. Not even a drop of blood. Safa was confused because she was sure that she saw blood coming out of the room.
"Where? There's nothing here!" Ustazah Ria shook her head. "You must be hallucinating."
"You know that Safa will definitely make fun of us. How could anyone dare to commit crimes here. This is a boarding school, isn't it?" said Fera with a cynical look on her face.
"Yes, he definitely wants to make fun of us. It's really pissing me off (annoying him)!" said Meli, who was standing beside Fera---a friend---one of her kobong. "I'm having a good time dreaming of being the main actor in a Korean drama, you're even going to gogorowakan (screaming)!"
"S--already, ja--don't, b--blame Sa--Safa te--keep on!" The student who stutters named Santi defends Safa.
"Eh, why are you guys making such a fuss?" Ustazah Ria again put her hands on her hips. "That's it, let's disperse. Hurry up and get back to Kobong and sleep. It's already late!"
"Okay, Master."
The students finally obeyed. They walked in droves towards their kobong. While Safa walked slowly while daydreaming.
'I'm not hallucinating. I actually heard a woman screaming for help. I also saw fresh blood coming out of the toilet. The killer must have fled and managed to erase his tracks.' The sweet-looking girl spoke to herself.
Then, he entered the kobong with the others. Ustazah Ria was also about to enter her room, but suddenly the hut owner's first daughter came over.
"Where did Ustazah Ria finish? Why did you come out of the room at this time of night?" asked the woman in the brown robe, surprised.
"Eh, Ning Aisyah, there's nothing wrong, really, earlier there was only a female student who was just having fun. She said there was a woman screaming for help in the toilet, even though there was no one there," replied Ustazah Ria.
Aisyah immediately frowned until her eyebrows almost came together, after hearing the words of one of the teachers at her father's Islamic boarding school. He was surprised because this was the first time a student claimed to have heard screams in the middle of the night in the toilet.
"Sorry, where did Ning Aisyah herself run out from? How come you haven't slept at this time?" Ustazah Ria asked back.
Aisha was stunned for a moment. "Eu, I couldn't sleep, so I went outside to get some fresh air. Ok, I want to go into the house first, well, assalamualaikum."
"Waalaikumsalam." Ustazah Ria also entered the room.
When Aisyah stepped towards her house, she saw a black shadow running towards the male students' boarding school.
The white woman then followed the shadow. "Wait, who are you!"
Aisyah continued to follow the black shadow until finally she saw a well-built man, whom she knew very well.
"Astagfirullahaldzim, Mas Damar." The figure of the man is Aisyah's husband who mysteriously died a year ago in the cottage toilet.
