Giraffes Have the same number of neck vertebrae as humans: Despite their long neck, giraffes have the same number of cervical vertebrae (seven) as humans.
This anatomical feature is the result of evolution and natural selection. Although giraffes have an incredibly long neck, their cervical vertebrae are significantly elongated compared to those of humans, allowing them to support and move such a long neck. The structure of giraffe cervical vertebrae is adapted to support the weight of the neck and facilitate movements such as standing up, bending down to drink water, or extending the neck to reach food high up. Despite the differing length of the cervical vertebrae, the total number of vertebrae remains the same.
