My Helichrysum italicum - Among aroma and properties.

🇬🇧 Dear Steemians, about a year ago I bought a small plant of Helichrysum italicum, which today has become a beautiful bush and is giving me many flowers. I did not think it could grow so well in an area of ​​northern Italy. Being a typical plant of central and southern Italy, where it is often found in nature along the coastal areas, it needs mild temperatures and is delicate in the cold. However, although there was been not a particularly cold winter, it snowed and the temperatures had dropped even to -10, but the Helichrysum resisted, exploding in an exponential growth during the spring. Now that it is flourishing, the most spectacular thing is its aromatic scent like liquorice that invades everything around itself for several meters.

Why the Helichrysum?

I chose the Helichrysum italicum, although it is a common plant, for its fantastic characteristics, as well as for its scent. In fact it is a plant with antihistamine, anti-inflammatory, expectorant and antibacterial properties. It is mainly used in natural remedies against respiratory problems, such as coughs, bronchitis and asthma. For this use, the inflorescences are dried, which can be taken with an infusion.

It is also used in local use, that is it applied directly on the skin to treat irritations, burns, sunburn, very useful even for sensitive skin thanks to its protective action.

In short, it is a miraculous plant, but as it, in nature there are several plants with unique properties, which are often better than modern medicine and the remedies offered by pharmaceutical companies, since both are developed as business and at the end most of them medicines and remedies derive from these plants. We can not rely solely on nature, but in all those problems where we can opt for a natural remedy, I think it is the best choice.

🇮🇹 Cari Steemians, circa un anno fa ho acquistato una piccola piantina di Helichrysum italicum, che oggi è diventata un bel cespuglio e mi sta regalando numerosi fiori. Non pensavo potesse crescere così bene in una zona del nord Italia. Essendo una pianta caratteristica del centro e sud Italia, dove la si trova spesso in natura lungo le zone costiere, necessita di temperature miti e risulta delicata al freddo. Tuttavia nonostante non ci sia stato un inverno particolarmente gelido, ha nevicato e le temperature erano scese anche a -10, ma l'Elicriso ha resistito, esplodendo in una crescita esponenziale durante la primavera. Ora che sta fiorendo la cosa più spettacolare è il suo profumo aromatico simile a liquirizia che invade tutto attorno a se per diversi metri.

Perchè l'Helichrysum?

Ho scelto l' Helichrysum italicum, sebbene sia una pianta comune, per le sue fantastiche caratteristiche, oltre che per il suo profumo. Infatti si tratta di una pianta con proprietà antistaminica, antinfiammatoria, espettorante e antibatterica. Viene usata sopratutto in rimedi naturali contro affezioni dell'apparato respiratorio, come tosse, bronchiti e asma. Per questo utilizzo, vengono fatte essiccare le infiorescenze, che si possono assumere con una tisana.

Inoltre è utilizzata anche in uso locale, cioè applicata direttamente sulla pelle per sfiammare irritazioni, ustioni, eritemi solari, molto utile anche per le pelli sensibili grazie alla sua azione protettiva.

In poche parole è una pianta miracolosa, ma come essa in natura si trovano svariate piante con proprietà uniche, che spesso sono migliori della medicina moderna e dei rimedi proposti dalle case farmaceutiche, essendo che entrambe sono sviluppate come business e alla fine gran parte dei loro farmaci e rimedi derivano da queste piante. Non possiamo affidarci unicamente alla natura, ma in tutti quei problemi dove possiamo optare per un rimedio naturale, penso sia la scelta migliore.
