One Tribe Could Make An Enormous Difference
Yesterday, @pennsif had the leaders behind the @reggaesteem tribe on. For those who are not familiar with the show, Pennsif interviews the teams behind some of the different tribes in an effort to learn more about them.
Personally, I found this interview to be very enlightening. My notion was that this tribe is simply about a niche market in music, providing a place for people to gather and discuss their favorite genre.
I can tell you this is only the tip of the iceberg.
This team has bigger plans, much bigger. They want to use their token, JAHM, as a unit of exchange throughout the entire island of Jamaica.
Certainly, having big plans is nothing new except for the fact this team appears to be implementing some of their vision. They have contacts through the tourism board and discussions with the Jamaican stock exchange about different ideas they have.
Jamaica is a trendsetter for many of the countries in the Caribbean. What happens there tends to filter throughout the entire region. Hence, we could see this become much bigger than just one island.

While nothing is for certain and we will have to watch what this group does, I feel there is a big lesson in this. Many of us can point to our favorite tribes, ones we feel have the most potential. This is evidenced by the fact that we load up on a particular token by selling projects we are not as enthusiastic about.
All this leads to an adjustment of our Steem-Engine wallets, amassing tokens in the tribes we are deeply involved with, hence optimistic about the future.
With somewhere around 50 different tribes, it is impossible for any individual to know what is taking place with them all. That is why a show like Pennsif's is informative. That said, it does show how something might not be as it appears.
While the JAHM token is centered around reggae and the culture, the vision is for something much bigger. They are targeting Jamaica's biggest industry, tourism. Through agreements with hotels, they seek to get the token accepted as a medium of exchange. They also look to provide continuity throughout the country via this token.
Hopefully the team can pull of what they are seeking to do. However, if I asked everyone to list the top 5 tribes with the greatest chance to make a huge difference on Steem, how many would have named Reggaesteem?
The point is this project was floating under the radar to most people yet has a plan that could certainly impact this ecosystem in an enormous way. My question is what other tribes are following a similar path? i guess we all will have to keep tuning into to the show each week to find out. Nevertheless, this is showing the power of what is taking place on Steem.
Many feel that the adoption of cryptocurrency would take place at a faster pace outside the major economic centers. In countries such as the United States, Japan, and the UK, the pain level for the majority of the people simply is not high enough. Most people are comfortable to a degree. This makes the inclination to change less likely.
The same is not true in the areas of the world where there is a lot of struggle. When local economies (and the people along with it) suffer, they suddenly become open to new ideas. Crypto-economics is an idea that can certainly change how an area operates. It provides people with opportunities that did not exist before.
Is Jamaica going to be one of the leading countries in cryptocurrency adoption? I have no idea. That said, on the show, @donald.porter mentioned having a Steem/JAHM conference in June that will not only focus upon this ecosystem, but cryptocurreny in general. In a country of roughly 3M people, that could have a major impact.
All this shows the tentacles of Steem and how they are expanding. This is key to understanding the nature of decentralization. Our entire platform is voluntary. Thus, we see a bunch of people getting together based around different topics or ideas and developing things. They are operating independent of anyone else, requiring no permission or approval. Ultimately, none of us can say with absolute certainty which communities are going to excel while making the major breakthroughs.
What is powerful is there are now 50 tribes who are just like Reggaesteem. Some might have little vision while others are crystal clear. The bottom line is, whatever success is achieved, helps Steem.
And, playing the numbers game, the likelihood of a breakthrough is increased with more communities. Hence, as things keep growing, so do the chances of success.
It ultimately becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.
I hope everyone is getting more excited about Steem's future. It keeps getting brighter.

It’s great when I Steem tribes taking action and huddling together to bring strength and influence, even when in certain circumstances your government hasn’t had that much luck in the currency department. Most people want to complain and don’t do anything as they can be paralysed by the past.
Great to see this is the exact opposite if that!
Music transcends All barriers, race, colour, creed etc and this project supports that! I’m really optimistic for the future of Steem and your reggaesteem tribe, as I think it provides one of the best solutions to communities together in a meaningful way. Great stuff! 👍🏼☮️
Thank you for the wonderful mention of @reggaesteem. While nothing is for certain I feel we are doing this for the right reasons, it is a win for all involved, the island of Jamaica, the lovers of Reggae music and culture and to all steemians. Our vision is about brining value to many.
You are welcome @dmilliz.
Thank you for what you and the team associated with @reggaesteem is doing. You are not only making progress in the niche you chose but also have a large impact on the entire Steem ecosystem.
We are all benefiting from what your group is putting together.
@taskmaster4450, I have no doubt in that ReggaeSteem will be adopted effectively. In my opinion @donald.porter, @dmilliz and @miyard putting efforts and already JAHM is accepted for some services, so we are seeing the Practical Use Case of this Token.
Most importantly it's spreading more viability aspect for Steem Blockchain.
Keep up the good work and stay blessed.

Awesome! I am having the founder of steemleo tribe join me live today on the Scaredy Cat Investor on MSP Waves for anyone that wants to learn more about that one. Show starts at 4pm EDT
I will do my best to tune in....I love what is happening with SteemLeo.
Thanks for the post, my wife is English and Jamaican, so I will definitely let her know about ReggaeSteem...now she has even more incentive to join Steem. I'm starting to see more and more the power of Tribes as the gateway to Steem.
There is a very clear business idea behind reggaesteem to bring new people to Steem and an experienced and versatile team to implement it, in addition to a legal entity and community ambassadors, which is why I have invested heavily in the #jahm token. My profile of the project is included in this post.
There is also reggaesteem.com with more information.
Me I guess.
Tho I don't post much in that tribe, I've been bullish on it since the get go, hence I keep buying tokens here and there. I.e 500 in the weekend coz prices had dropped and 1k just now coz you know, FOMO.
That makes a lot of sense and is something I do also with projects I am optimistic about.
Just keep adding when you have the belief in what is taking place.
I like listening to reggae and drinking homemade mint tea. I've never been to Jamaica but I've been to the sea nearby a few times. I want to go there to drink coffee and eat some of their island spices pr try mojo because the name is neat.
Naturalmedicine is another underrated tribe.
I was super enthusiastic to hear about the Jahm tribe effort because of the bigger picture that they are seeing with it outside the Steem world. My experience from my Caribbean years on St Martin were that in general island people are very distrustfull to banks (valid!) but even more to the idea of crypto in general. But Moneygram is the only decent way to get money off of the island, and Moneygram are literally the biggest crooks of them all. A trustfull tribe could mean so much in here!
The only part which might be an issue is the staking. I dont know how it is in Jamaica but where I lived staking/saving was not in anyones book (what comes tomorrow, happens tomorrow), so changing that mindset is something else!
But apart from that...One love!
