"Local Colour by Peter Lemer Quintet" (1966)

in #jazz4 years ago

"Local Color" (released in 1966) is the name of the debut album produced by the Peter Lemer quintet. Lemer is an English jazz musician (born June 1942), well known in the British avant-garde scene for having participated in the Spontaneous Music Ensemble with great artists such as: Annette Peacock, Harry Beckett, Baker Gurvitz Army, Seventh Wave and Harry Beckett's Joy Unlimited. In addition, it is worth mentioning his collaboration in bands belonging to the canterbury scene such as: Gilgamesh, In Cahoots, Pierre Moerlen's Gong, among others. Musically speaking, Lemer's style is a free-jazz that combines experimentation with avant-garde music, plus the sounds of the canterbury scene that can be evoked by the dark melodies of Soft Machine or Soft Heap ... =)
