Anyone can experience a job-hunting slump from time to time and the first step is acknowledging it. The next is to come up with a strategy for how to get out of it. That’s exactly what we’re going to be doing today.

Why you might be in a job-hunting slump?

A job hunting slump may also be known as job search burnout and some signs that can help you identify it are:

  • Feeling overwhelmed or stressed by simple tasks

  • Poor health

  • Being irritable and frustrated

  • A lack of social interaction

  • No one getting back to you with interviews

Some reasons why you may be experiencing this burnout may be because your job search is taking longer than you expected or you’re being your own worst critic as you don’t feel that you’ve made any progress.

How to switch your mindset?

It’s time to hit reset and start the year right with a motivated mindset. Here are some things you can try!

Take a break

Your health and wellbeing should be a top priority so don’t forget to take breaks when you need to. You may feel like you’re against the clock to find a new job but you make the rules of your job search journey so it’s okay to take things at your own pace.

Get help with your job search from an expert

You’re not alone in your job search there are experts that can help you level up your job search, with the best interview teqniques and giving your CV a much needed makeover.

Remember you don’t have to look for work 24/7

It’s a myth if you believe you have to be looking for work day and night, as long as you meet at least one or two of the goals that you’ve set yourself then I really wouldn’t worry as you’re trying your absolute best and that’s all that matters.

Now, what we would actually recommend you do is set yourself a routine that you can stick to and I feel like I’ve said this time and time again but it really does work.

A job search strategy is key
