Fast Food Is About To Get A Lot Faster... Without Humans

in #jobs7 years ago (edited)

There is a little known startup called Momentum Machines that has just landed over $18 million in new funding from some of the biggest investors in robotics. What do they do? Well, they have created a robot that can make 400 hamburgers in an hour. Made-to-order hamburgers no less. (read more here)

The new robots work much better than some of the ones we have seen before.

So what? We get our burgers faster and more accurate.

Well, for tens of thousands of young people, they are losing entry level jobs. I wrote in another blog about the Coming Job Crisis and this is just another example.

Everyone should really start looking at their career or job and see if it is in-line with the way technology and the marketplace is progressing. If you work in a restaurant, a driver, financial advisor or even a retail cashier, you may not have a job in five years.

Now is the time to start planning and learning new skills. If you are on steemit, then you are probably ahead of the curve already.

Check out this blog on the Coming Job Crisis in America.

What jobs do you think will disappear in the future?

I would agree with you that one day machines will probably take over a part of the job market.
The one thing I want to atleast believe in is, that no robot could do any better than humans in customer services.
Also I find it good with change and new things, but humanity losing our jobs to machines is not going to be anywhere near a good change for the population.

I don't think is going to be good either. Check out my other post on the Coming Job Crisis. I do think that customer service, at least some will be at risk in the near future too. Call centers and chat boxes are now being tested with Customer Service AI. There will still need to be some humans involved, but a lot less than we have now. We are also seeing the retail industry collapsing, so unless people do customer service for Amazon, they might be out of a job. There is a double edged sword with the growth of technology. I really appreciate your feedback.

I think this is some great content and I will definitely check out your other posts.
I'm glad too see you are writhing about this topic about job crisis, the more people see about it, the more they will slowly understand about how much this will affect the job market for a great percentage of the population.
Thank you for sharing and caring!

@jerry12 I appreciate the feedback. I do care. My children are learning skills in schools for jobs that won't exist when they graduate. I think it is really important. Thank you again!

That's what the end result is when you "Fight for $15"... a battlebot that will put ketchup on your hamburger for the low wage of a Satochi :P

lmao!
Right you are!

I agree. Things are moving a lot faster than most people even realize.

Just saw this on Drudge Report today. Its an article about robot-powered restaurant. Thats one hell of a crystal ball you have.

I write a lot about the coming job crisis, and I did link the same article in my post.

Do you think fast food jobs are safe? McDonalds is testing automated kiosks and now a machine can make burgers... do you not see where this is leading?
